    Keifer Sutherland.

Kiefer Sutherland is Snake in Metal Gear Solid V - Destructoid

I really don't have a problem with this choice. The only crazy thing I heard people say was they were glad Hayter wasn't reprising because he sounded like a gravely Kurt Russell. I think those people need go watch Escape from New York and Escape from LA, then go slam their heads on a wall.

Yeah that's not bad. I mean, David Hayter was classic, but he had to give it up at some point I suppose.

If they're intending to remake MG and MG2 at some point, he'll be back. After MGS V a confrontation between Snake and Big Boss is the next place in the timeline to go, unless they reconsider exploring the adventures of The Boss pre-MGS3

        I'm okay with this!

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone remember like a compiliation CS video that came out around before MGS4 came out? I kinda want to review the history before MGS5 comes out

Anything pre-MGS4 isn't going to get you totally up to speed here. You're best finding some video digests for MGS3 and especially MGS Peacewalker as that takes place before the Ground Zeroes chapter of MGSV. It also fleshes out Kaz Miller's relationship with Big Boss a bit and shows where Big Boss starts to get a little dark.

They apparently never told David Hayter about it which isn't cool really. They apparently didn't even approach him about playing Snake again.

I'd be the first to admit to being a David Hayter fanboy but I'm willing to give Kiefer Sutherland a chance. People immediately think of Solid Snake when you mention Hayter anyway and Liquid did get his own voice too, so I'm actually okay with giving Big Boss his own voice.

I think it also comes down to anticipating the future.

If they do go and remake MG and MG2 at some point - which as been more than hinted at - there's going to be a needed distinction between Solid Snake and Big Boss.

That and Kojima is looking into remaking MGS again on the Fox Engine with an outside team.

I was thinking the same really; Big Boss does need to be a bit more "unique" so hopefully Sutherland should do a good job with it.

I think he will. I'm usually against the idea of using that level of Hollywood talent on a video game - mostly because I like rooting for the small-time actors - but when they announced Kiefer I really just didn't have a good argument against him. He's a bit more hushed in his voice, but I imagine one might be after coming out of a nine-year coma.

Hayter will be back, for sure. There is no Solid Snake without him.
