Yeah, it doesn't surprise me you or Mal wouldn't know what censorship really is. And in Mal's mind a teamkiller is the gravest sin worthy of actual discipline.

I'm okay with Westboro doing what they do. They play it smart and do it on public property. However, it annoys me to no end that people are okay with that kind of toxic behavior and even supportive of it on private property like PSN, XBL and then bring their shit into my home. This is what you're okay with and yet somehow auto-muting a fuckwit is the slippery slope to censorship.

There is something else Sony and MS could do - follow Steam's example and let the build their own moderated communities. Let people find other people of like mind more easily so they can play with those people. If they start trouble and don't follow the group's rules they can even be booted. Then the asshole can just find another group. Maybe they'll like them or maybe they'll get booted there and - after a while, start to develop a clue as to why no one likes them.

Nobody said you wouldn't be able to un-mute them manually if you really wanted to go against your better judgment.

Don't care about headsets. All it means is that more 13 year olds with voices that can shatter glass will be shouting in my ear in multiplayer until I mute them. Not something I'm looking forward to.

And? The only major differences are that there are fewer people with microphones on PS3, and of the ones that do have them, they tend to be older because kids are less likely to buy a headset than adults (no doubt due to many parents being less than thrilled with the idea of their kids shouting profanity at strangers over the internet).

Once you pack in a headset on the PS4, that stops becoming a limiting factor, and we're a long ways away from when the PS3 was $600 so parents wouldn't buy one for their kids.
