New Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Girl Has A Stronger Story Focus [Update] | Siliconera
A curious announcement from Atlus today, though not totally suprising given how well Etrian Odyssey has been working out for them. New Etrian Odyssey: Lady of the Millennium is a remake of sorts of the original EO, but this time game has a story focus and is character driven. Character classes will be able to be changed from their starter jobs as they become available and most of the refinements from EOIV will be included. In addition to the new character focus, there will also be voice acting.
Everything else that made EO what it was is more or less still there, though. You'll still draw maps and have Lynxes and Clawbugs kicking your ass on the first dungeon floor.
This probably isn't a signaling of a paradigm shift for the series so much as EO doing doing what Wizardry has been known to do from time to time. Every now and again an older Wizardry game will also get remade with a focus on story that it didn't have previously. Still, I take it as good news, particularly considering Legend of Grimrock II also got a tease earlier today. Its nice to see this older take on RPGs still getting around.
Not as much news on Grimrock II, beyond that the new game takes place outdoors and was originally conceptualized as DLC for the first game. There is this image, though:
