  • Dungeons & Dragons Chronicles of Mystara coming to PS3, X360 and maybe Wii U and PC

Read someone thank about PC version and Wii U might get this too, as well as PS3 and XBox360. Oh mew this is great news!! The trailer is very emotional!! =^^= I will have to watch it again, it's so mystifying, so have to examine it more to catch the other details.

It was already confirmed for Wii U and PC as well.

Also, its a 90s brawler - hokey and laughable is the tone i'm thinking, not "emotional."

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad its happening, but it did have its thunder stolen by the DuckTales Remastered annoucment.

DuckTales isn't all that impressive, mew. Unless people are into scroogey ducks. The only decent thing that came from DuckTales was the cartoon itself. None of the videogames were entertaining in the slightest, mew. And there's nothing hokey and laughable about the D&D brawlers, mew. At least they deliver a greater sense of adventure, unity, depth, atmosphere and excitement. It is ridiculous that DuckTales is receiving so much hype. it'll quickly collect dust before any co-op game.

As expected, J9 craps on a classic NES game to put a decent-but-average brawler on a pedestal because co-op. It begs the question of if co-op games are so fun, why do I sink 60 hours into Fire Emblem Awakening, 80+ into your average JRPG and hundreds into Fallout or Skyrim and never feel the crushing pain of lonliness and instead enjoy the sense of solitude.

I can not wait for both, been playing the D&D game on MAME for a while, and love that it is finally getting a console release, now I do not have to buy the Saturn version..... that is only in Japanese -.-

This game was one of the reasons why I wanted to build a 4 player MAME cab to begin with......... that went.... "well" by the way -.- lol I now have 4 home built arcade sticks and a bit of extra wood in the shed ^.^ Now the two games that, for the longest, did not have home release, now do, Simpsons and the two D&D games.

DuckTales has the best NES-era song ever (The Moon theme), so it by default wins over D&D sidescrollers.

Snark aside, I'm glad to see all these retro games making a comeback. Older game doesn't necessarily equate to bad gameplay, and even games with questionable gameplay can be improved (see: Double Dragon Neon).

Pretty much the only reason people are raving about Ducktales Remastered. I'm in no way calling it a bad game but BBQ dismissing a game that might actually be fun, and has a market outside of people who when old, will turn into those people who think that anything made after their turned into an adult is terrible, all because of nostalgia is as idiotic as j9 dismissing Ducktales because it's being overhyped by the people who have their nostalgia filter surgically attached to their heads.

Also just because "90's brawlers" don't sell well in the US does not mean that the game will not sell well. Pretty big fallacy right there. The US games market is not the World's Game market.

Ducktales is no where near the level of Skyrim, not even close. The only thing they have in common is single player, but then you might as well relate Sonic 1 with Beyond Good and Evil despite being so different. And in general, co-op/multiplayer places games above single player-only games. Ducktales only has tropes/nostalgia to its name. Its gameplay is boring, mew. D&D has much more than nostalgia.

Playing the nostalgia card is quite easily one of the quickest ways for people to ignore you becauses its not only dismissive of why people might enjoy something, but it assumes the time of the game's release is also of value to the individual. DuckTales did not happen at a happy time in my life nor is the year something I'd want to return to.

It was, however a game that I played over and over and not unlike Mega Man, Ninja Gaiden or Metroid, something that would become the stuff of speed runs - meaning it still gets played to this very day. When a game has been beaten that deeply its no longer about nostalgia. i'm still playing Symphony of the Night and its hardly been about that. Even Tower of Doom sees speed runs and repeat playthroughs these days.

I just count it as somewhat less remarkable than Final Fight, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage and Double Dragon. RPG mechanics and items didn't mesh well with the arcade back then. That's not to say it didn't leave its mark - that's hardly the case because Dragon's Crown is completely based on it.

Why people are excited about stuff like this is they were worried the nature of licensing and age meant that these games could never be revived. There's even rumors Capcom might have another surprise in the works. I mean, lots of people in the west see Strider as a Capcom character rather than a manga character and now he's going to get to return again.

Capcom in general owned the NES-era as far as music went. It wasn't until SNES that SE & Nobuo really took off.

                      Did you just......oh lord...... -.-

How about you try out the new Duck Tales game when it is released? If it plays anything like the old two on NES, it will be a fun, crazy side scrolling platformer. Also no, a game is not automatically better because it has multilayer.

That would require J9 to actually play a game she has formed an opinion on.

mew! I seen enough footage to know it's not something I'm interesting in! I mean really, mew. It's like expecting people to like Gex or Adventures of Lolo, just because it was your fav pasttime thing to play.

Honestly this is why I didn't go along with the hype the Duck Tales news of a remake. If it's anything like the original it will be fun. What I don't get is why BBQ had to derail the thread into this when someone is getting excited about a new IP. I for one am actually interested in D&D Chronicles because, hey it might actually be a fun game. If it is fun, then great, if it's not then there's already dozens of Brawler games out there anyway.

Well good co-op brawlers are not as common as fighting games and shooters, mew. We have yet to get the Sailor Moon brawlers on console, including the arcade game. Dragon's Crown is coming not long after D&D Chronicles, but I wouldn't say there's an abundance of brawlers that aren't dynasty warriors, and two recent brawlers are exclusive to Xbox360 (Guardian Heroes and Phantom Breaker). Well I guess Ninja Gaiden Razor's Edge counts as a brawler, it does have online co-op mode with 100 missions.
