On some games they really are very poorly implemented and you can do well at the game by throwing the Wiimote down a flight of stairs. Wii Sports Resort springs to mind when thinking of that.

I couldn't imagine that doing much more than having the Wii ask you to recalibrate every two seconds.

I went into the Wii options menu and turned the pointer sensitivity as high as it could go. This way, I had to move as little as possible to do most things. I made this adjustment the very first day I owned my Wii because my room is not spacious and big gestures would knock over objects, hit computers or walls.

Maybe if we were talking about Wii Fit it would be lazy, but that tweaking helped Metroid Prime Trilogy, RE4, Skyward Sword and many others play comfortably.

I never had to tweak the Wiimote for Skyward Sword. the game worked fine out of the box.

Well considering the tweak was done years ahead of that game it wasn't really an issue. Also, don't get Mal and Icemage started on their complaints about the occasional, simple D-pad calibration. All the calibration I ever did was once inside the option menu and later inside Metroid Prime Trilogy. Nothing else.
