Diamond/Pearl and Gold/Silver happen at the same time, 3 years later if I remember correctly.
Unsure of the placement of Black/White and 2, I only started the first and didn't finish it.

Either way they're pretty much all unrelated except Gold/Silver being a true sequel to Red/Blue and Black/White 2 being a sequel to Black/White. Also they all pretty much follow the same formula of 8 gyms + 4 Elite Four + 1 Champion so you don't really need to play the others or anything.

Black/White 2 is set 2 years after 1 and is pretty much a direct sequel.

Can't play Pokemon without thinking of this song now. Ugh.

At any rate, I wish these games would be on PC... I'm so not a fan of handhelds.

I just know my oldest is going to ask for these games. I need to keep up with the Poke-franchise.

              Picked up White v2.

Kinda surprised Riolu got dropped on me in the first hour amidst all the vendor trash pokemon. Lucario is supposed to be pretty good for the long haul, isn't it?

Yeah, it is. I wouldn't progress past that point until I caught it. Was actually pretty difficult to capture. And the first one I caught didn't have a useful Nature.

                  Re: Pokemon X/Y

They had another recent "Pokemon Direct"

I'll go ahead and summarize it. They'll be debuting two Pokemon applications on 3DS, one applicable to prior DS versions - Pokemon Transfer - and then Pokemon Bank a cloud storage service which is applicable to Y/X and future games which will allow you to store up to 3,000 pokemon. You'll still have traditional in-game storage as well, the same ten boxes you had before. Pokemon Bank does have to be purchased and there i an annual fee to use it after the 30-day trail ends, however. Kinda makes sense, given its a long term service.

Its also encouraging to someone like me who couldn't be bothered to play through or finish the last few Pokemon games since the future hassle of transferring all these little buggers around was always in the back of my mind. Now I can go back and play the D/P, HG/SS and the B/W games and not have to worry about losing everything I raised because I couldn't find someone to trade with or had another DS around for transfers. Or just dealing with some other obtuse or hacked method to keep my favorites.

The other news is that the classic starters Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander will be made available to the player on top of the new starters in this adventure. A friend in the game will offer your choice of one of the X/Y starters and then your local pokemon professor offers a choice of one of the classic Red/Blue starters. That's a nice gesture for long-time fans, I think.

On one hand I like Cyndaquil more than Charmander, but on the other hand I don't think Charmander is available on a DS title yet (as opposed to Cyndaquil in HG/SS).

Of course, this being the case, we can probably expect a similar deal with bonus Gen III starters later down the road.

That's pretty cool, but I thought the more interesting bit of news is that Mega Evolutions look like something that'll apply to a ton of Pokemon and the fact that they seem to be an "at will" instead of permanent thing.

I'm digging the Blastoise Mega Evolution

                        Charizard looks nice, too.

Charizard getting Drought will be fun. Charizard is already a free kill for any team on Wi-Fi and Showdown so seeing it pop up more often on Sun Teams will make them that much easier to beat.

Wow so much rage about the new changes.

Steel is now weak to Dark and Ghost. Mo more Jiachi on every single team is always fun.

                            Fairy typing is cool too:
Strong Against: Fighting, Dragon and Dark
Resisted by: Fire, Poison and Steel
                            Weak against: Poison and Steel
                            Resists: Fighting, Bug, Dark
                            Immune to: Dragon

Fighting, Steel and Dragon types no longer dominate the metagame! ^_^ Shame Fire is still a worthless defensive typing though but at least it is a little buff.

Man, I wish money wasn't so tight right now, otherwise I'd be all over this game.

Apparently, Pokemon X/Y sold 4 million worldwide in two days and even if you break it down by region its the fast-selling game in the series. Additionally, it outsold B/W2's launch by 70% - looks like a lot of people were holding out for this one.

Over 250 million sold across the entire series, five of them breaking ten million copies sold. Looks like X/Y is well on its way to being the sixth game in the series to do it.

Hell yeah! I thought I was done with Pokemon - well, not in the sense that I hated it, I just saw it as something from my childhood that I would never truly appreciate and see in wonder again...

I can not put down this 3DS. My Meowstic demands her Poke Puffs!
