Re: NS Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 (wow that's a long title).
Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. Why is this title in any way different from its predecessors (Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations)?
Also: I really like the gameplay in this series (I own them all), and CyberConnect2 always does a good job.
P.S. Have you even played any of these games, J-9, or is this another one of your "I saw a trailer and think this is going to be the best game ever" sort of post?

mew! I bought and played the 2nd one, mew! I knew Generations was a bridge towards making the real 3rd one much bigger and better (more new characters than repeats), so that's why I skipped that one, mew.

J9 I've known about this for months already. The trailer was already out during the release of Ninja Storm Generations (which was horrible). This is old news.Heavensward Stats - Main Story: Cleared | Alexander Normal: 4/4 | Alexander: Savage 0/4 | Relic: Last Resort (Scholar) | Mahatma: 2/12

I guess that works. I hope they're implementing the old substitution system back and not that garbage like they did in Generations. -_-Heavensward Stats - Main Story: Cleared | Alexander Normal: 4/4 | Alexander: Savage 0/4 | Relic: Last Resort (Scholar) | Mahatma: 2/12

I will admit I'm not terribly fond of how the substitution reserve regenerates, but even with that it still makes for shorter, more dynamic battles.

I've yet to play any Ultimate Ninja Storm games but I played a decent amount of Naruto: Rise of A Ninja, and that one was pretty enjoyable.

1. Cancel Combo Infinites which they implemented, using these you could infinite stun someone and make them waste the 5 substitutes they had.
2. Your opponent can see how many you have left, which they shouldn't have done.
3. Short battles are boring, takes the real fun out of it.
4. Your forced into a rush battle from the beginning, not giving any room for fun. It feels more like a grind fest than anything else. So if Storm 3 has the same system, I'm not going to bother picking the game up. I'll be looking forward to the new .hack//GU fighter that already released in Japan.Heavensward Stats - Main Story: Cleared | Alexander Normal: 4/4 | Alexander: Savage 0/4 | Relic: Last Resort (Scholar) | Mahatma: 2/12

Re: NS Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 (wow that's a long title).
I heard that officially, the NUNSG website can still be used to send playable character suggestions for NSUNS 3, mew.Considering how popular the Jinchuriki are, it's possible the official suggestion box influenced their early announcement (and it is quite early considering there are other ninjas before them in the war that have yet to be confirmed, so it seems like they might not necessarily add characters chronologically based on the manga fights, unless they intend on skipping Edo Raikage, Edo Tsuchikage and Edo Kazekage.).

Not sure if the character suggestion box will merge with the Ninja Storm 3 website or a new page will be developed for it (though I think by then, all the character plans would be finalized by next month). Also I'm not sure but I think I read somewhere that they might provide DLC characters this time to expand things further, mew.

Why is this a problem? Should we hide life bars too because it might be "unfair" for the opponent to know how much life you have left?
Seriously BS. Consider that your average fighting game has anywhere from 60-90 seconds or so on the battle clock, and the vast majority of matches never get adjudicated on time - even super-broken stuff like Marvel vs. Capcom 3 where you basically have to deplete three life bars to win. PvP brawlers are, by their nature, somewhat short, and people still enjoy them just fine.
How is reducing the amount of frustration from having an opponent slip past combo string after combo string "more of a grind fest"? It's not like they took substitution jutsu completely away, they just limited it so you don't have people turtling all day long and chip-damaging you for wins.

It would be more respectable if they went by Clash of Ninja's substitute system/guard system. Makes things a lot easier in my opinion. Then again I could be eating my own words, since I think it might be either 2 or 3 in the morning. I don't know. But I don't like the system they put in. Now you also have to take in mind people who are hardcore game fighters and frame count and can check out how many frames each character moves. Before you capitalize on my words, think how fair would it be? I'll await your reply. Too tired to think right now. Gonna post something in the anti-peeve thread.Heavensward Stats - Main Story: Cleared | Alexander Normal: 4/4 | Alexander: Savage 0/4 | Relic: Last Resort (Scholar) | Mahatma: 2/12

Not to mention quite a few of the assists are VERY good defensive moves and combo breakers all on their own, so there's that element as well.
There's very little wrong from a game balance standpoint on NS:UNS:G's mechanics for substitution jutsu, except for maybe how those substitution bars regenerate (they only regenerate after you don't use them for a while, and they stop regenerating as soon as you use one). I personally think it breaks the flow of the game when one player is constantly playing keep-away waiting for sub jutsu bars to recover, and would be better if the bars just regenerated on their own over time (at a lower rate).

Provided Sasuke didn't fight back much, but it's still enough to see where the game took the mechanics.Heavensward Stats - Main Story: Cleared | Alexander Normal: 4/4 | Alexander: Savage 0/4 | Relic: Last Resort (Scholar) | Mahatma: 2/12

Re: NS Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 (wow that's a long title).
From watching that video, it looks like they did EXACTLY what they should have.
* Sub jutsu reserve was increased from 4 to 5.
* Substitution reserve no longer regenerates over time at all. Instead it regenerates as you take damage or attack. <- I like this change a LOT, as it means even less stupid turtling, and gives people more reasons to go on offense instead of playing shuriken keep-away while the opponent tries to chase them down with chakra dashing.
Anything that encourages people to actually attack instead of run away all the time is a good thing in this game, as it's set in a 3D battlefield and it's so very easy to run away from an attacker who isn't chakra dashing (and risking getting blocked and counter-attacked on a failed chakra dash).
Why would you need more than 5 substitutions? If you need more than that, learn to block instead of mashing the attack button all day long.
