Gamasutra has received first-hand confirmation that Zynga has laid off 100+ people from its Austin development studio and has shut down its Boston studio entirely.

Rumors are circulating that there is similar bad news in Chicago, but we're unable to confirm anything at press time.

Pretty sleazy of Zynga to use Apple's hardware announcement as cover for handing out pink slips. Then again, considering it's Zynga (makers of Farmville, amongst other things), that's not really much of a surprise.

Zynga being sleazy is just business as usual. I wonder what their original management team is up to now. *shudder*

Unsustainable economic and business models are unsustainable. Everything is fine until the bubble bursts and people lose their jobs.

Will Zynga learn from this? Sadly I don't think they will.
