Re: Borderlands 2, as reviewed by the Wall Street Journal

If you think about it, Borderlands is a dungeon hack played with guns from a first person perspective. Hell, it's more Diablo-like than Diablo 3.

Probably why no one will ever use the term "Diablo 3-like."

Monster Hunter is more Diablo than Diablo 3 is.

When has CoD ever been a skill-based experience?

To a degree, perhaps, but it's largely reaction speed. I actually like the leveling and perks etc, it's part of what makes CoD fun. The problem has been they just haven't ever really done a terrific job of balancing things. For one thing, they've nerfed explosives all to shit since MW2. Seriously, why make them so terrible when they've removed the crap that made them so abusive in MW2 in the first place?! (Danger Close, One Man Army, and scavenger no longer reloads equipment or Launchers).

The new version of Ghost is amazing in BO2 as well - it hides you from UAVs etc, but only when moving. Suck on THAT campers.

Go back and read it again. FPS are supposed to be a skill-based experience. Perks reward time investment rather than skill. This is why the Gem System in SFXT is abhorred - its essentially adding perks to the fighting genre where none belong. There's no place in competitive fighters for newb-friendly mechanics. Kid gloves were what the story modes and single player were for.

How long would most CoD players even last in a round of CounterStrike? It has none of that crap. Theres just no reason a weapon that is inaccurate by nature should be able to gain accuracy or that such a perk would let me snipe you with a pistol from a across the entire map.

Honestly any sort of dungeon hack or game inspired by dungeon hacks like Borderlands are more like Diablo than Diablo 3

Just bought this last night, I wish they had "I wanted it yesterday" shipping -.- I have watched a lot of videos about it, and want to see for myself if it really makes a difference. I am much better with keyboard/mouse ;p
