      Re: Steam's Big Picture

      I have noooooo idea. <_<;

      I'm guessing it could work with Cloud gaming, but that's kinda way out there in the future.

      All the info the site has is this:

      Heading to the living room—or anywhere there’s a big screen—is Steam’s soon-to-be-released big-picture mode, offering simple, easy-to-read navigation designed specifically for TV. With full controller support, big-picture mode will let gamers kick back and enjoy their favorite games on the biggest screen in the house.

      Steam’s big-picture mode doesn’t require any additional development from you. Just ensure your game works well with a controller, and we’ll take care of the rest. And don’t worry, keyboard and mouse aren’t going anywhere—users will be able to switch between input devices at any time.

      This revolution will be televised.

        Basically gives you a UI of Steam that works better with controllers.

        Nothing fancy. Your TV becomes your monitor and you can, say, change to a different game right there instead of having to get up and walk back to the computer to do it.

        Works better with a laptop... unless you want to drag your case to the living room. Otherwise, pointless.

            Re: Steam's Big Picture

            Really with the rising cost of console gaming and the fact that consoles now really don't offer anything a PC doesn't already do except for the endless use of online passes, codes, constant version updates and general anti-competitiveness and "hey guys les see how we can fuck over the consumer today!" attitude from the big three, this is a great move by Steam. Especially now the Wii U has been announced.

            Who needs a Valve console when you can just stream video games to your TV?

              Tried it out. More of a throwaway thing for me. Not as streamlined as I would like it to be, but it's something for people who prefer to play on a larger screen.

                Actually since I play PC games on a TV screen on my wall, I'm personally hoping that this will get rid of some of the display issues that I have been having with games games that simply aren't compatible with 1980x1080 widescreen resolutions at a non-standard refresh rate, like pretty much every game made by Blizzard ever or Civ V.
