The next Playstation and Xbox are platforms I will not need.

unless they land some Atlus games, fuck 'em.
If what I said concedes your point, then as scary as it sounds I must agree with you.

Re: Sept. 13th Wii U news stuff

      Here's the US launch line-up from Nintendo.com:

      Rayman Legends
      Black Ops 2
      Assassin’s Creed III
      ZombiU
      Mass Effect 3: Special Edition
      Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition
      TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2
      Scribblenauts Unlimited
Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two
      Rabbids Land
      Just Dance 4
      Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth
      Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
      MADDEN NFL 13
      NBA 2K13
      TRANSFORMERS PRIME
      Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2013
      Game Party Champions
      ESPN Sports Connection
      Darksiders II
      Nintendo Land
      New Super Mario Bros. U

      Not bad.

I was holding out on Darksiders and Tekken Tag Tournament, so maybe those two, Rayman, Mario and Zombi U in the first couple months for me. I have a feeling I'm cancelling on Assassins Creed, though, Ubisoft tends to have very sloppy ports to make a system launch and thankfully Rayman and Zombi U are not ports.

        Oh, wait . . .
Yes, Sony tried as hard as they could to mimic the terribleness, thus Move. Microsoft's response iterated on the concept, removing the controller from motion controls. Regardless, it's useless tech, like Carmack's VR goggles. It'll draw in the masses like snake oil, with the promise of magic, but people will realize it's balls and move on. Just like they did with the Wii.

I think you're overlooking the fact peripherals that are introduced mid-gen tend to fail as developers don't want to relearn developing for new schemes mid-gen. Nintendo has proven this more than any other company with Power Gloves, track pads, the Super Scope 6, the eCard Reader and such.

Its just when Nintendo implements them from the start and they're actually successful, people call them "gimmicks." Mostly because they hate being proven wrong.

          Example: DS Touchscreen.

DS went on to become the most successful gaming platform ever because of all the great third party titles and increased accessibility of games by way of a touchscreen. It wasn't new tech, but it hadn't really been applied to gaming. Apple goes on to further validate the success of touch with iTouch and iPhone. Nintendo continues to expand on this and continue to be accused of gimmickr.

This in an age of smartphones and tablets.

Bethesda Game Studios integrated Kinect functionality into TESV easily, and it was a huge success.

It's still a gimmick, whether Wii or PS3 those motion controls are meh. And the Kinect was relatively successful for doing things that had nothing to do with the original purpose of the thing. So at least that was a lucky break in a sea of meh. XD

And here I am with a 360 still not compelled to get a Kinect. I don't buy an overpriced camera to talk to it - that's what a headset is for.

If I want to talk at a video game, I'll buy Seaman again on 3DS when that happens.

You are doing it wrong. Like I said, Kinect's worthwhile uses have little to do with the lolbox.

Yea, I'm not sure I'll ever understand peoples' passion for Nintendo. I'll have to agree to disagree.

I used to be passionate about Nintendo.

                        Then I bought a Wii.

I think it's mostly the "they often make good games" thing. That and they're not image or brand-conscious gamers.

I'm mystified at the rage over Bayonetta 2, to be quite honest. It's not exactly Halo. It's a niche title with a polarizing main character that I'm glad to see get a sequel somewhere other than iOS. There shouldn't be a drop in quality on the Wii U (unlike, say, Valkyria Chronicles' move from PS3 to PSP), so why all the angst? Besides, Sega could perhaps pull a Namco Bandai and do Bayonetta 2 Sigma next year when the rest of the next gen field enters the fray.

When Nintendo publishes something, there tends to be bit of finality to it these days. Its paid for with Nintendo money and ever since MGS Twin Snakes when that happens Nintendo staff becomes involved in the development as well so they retain full control. The Last Story would be an example of this, for all the problems they created with fans on beating around the bush with its release.

Barring something like Pokemon Conquest or DOA4, TK just just too big to make exclusives these days. Platinum is a small fry.

Eh? That's part of the publisher/developer relationship. What makes Bayonetta 2's situation any different than Ninja Gaiden II? Microsoft was in the exact same position on NG2 as Nintendo is on Bayonetta 2 to all outward appearances, and yet NG Sigma 2 happened.

Considering that there's an existing fanbase (obviously) on both the 360 and PS3 for the Bayonetta franchise, I sincerely doubt Nintendo can throw enough money at Platinum Games to make it worth their while to leave money on the table (and piss off the fanbase when they could just do a relatively painless port to the next gen). The working assumption is that both the next Xbox and PlayStation will have significantly more computing muscle than the Wii U, so porting shouldn't be an issue.
