Since this is a BF3 thread, I'll use this as a platform to decry their expansion packs. I'm sure the content is great, but the players are forced to play them in conjunction with new game modes. Originally, there were three or four, or thereabouts, but now there's upwards of eight. The basics are Conquest, Rush, and Deathmatch, and each new game mode splits the community up even further. Worse yet is these new modes aren't as fun as the originals, so servers are rarely employing them. And if the new maps are gated by the new game modes, which servers are rarely employing, than it's rare to find a server running the new maps. Wasted money.

So now I'm asking, what's the point? What's the point of making this content to gate it in such a way that people rarely bother to play it? What's the point in purchasing it? I get some new challenges to unlock new weapons, but that's about it.

I don't know what you're talking about.

There's still plenty of people on BF3, and so far the new modes have been mostly good - the only bad one really has been Gun Master, which is a warped version of CoD's Gun Game. Tank Superiority looks like it might be fun too.

I honestly don't see how giving us more modes to play is a bad thing. If you're not enjoying it well, that's too bad - maybe next time around. But I really don't feel as though DICE is doing as bad a job as you say they are. However, it should be noted that many people suspect (and I'm inclined to agree with them) that BF3 has basically been a testbed, a public beta really, for BF4. I've enjoyed BF3 greatly, but it's not without its flaws and well, unless BF4 is a huge step up I'll probably skip it or hold out for a price drop.

Like they're doing now @_@ they just anounced BF3 Premium Edition for $70 - you get the basic game and premium in 1 bundle. And those of us who bought the game day 1 get squat.

It's not that there aren't people playing, it's that the community is fragmented by so many different modes.

I never have problems finding games - what I do have issues with though, are the multitude of servers with asinine "rules" or settings.

Especially the assholes who tell you not to do something, and then their whole team goes and does (like spawn camping). Hell the other week I was doing extremely well on a conquest round on Operation Metro - we had Russian team pushed all the way back to their deployment, and I guess an admin got fed up with me racking up kills by the far right stairwell. I kept picking people off as they came up from there, or whenever they tried going around (in a game like BF I generally don't take issue with people camping unless it's over a spawn - big difference between guarding an area and sitting in a corner like a douche bag waiting for unsuspecting players to run by) so I just suddenly went down and it said "Killed by Admin".

I was on a 20+ freaking killstreak, bastard. Dude was just sour about getting owned. It was funny too because at one point they actually wisened up a bit and used some smoke grenades while also tossing a frag or two my way. Still got their bitch asses though
