    Re: Video Game Industry Slump

I do remember reading an article elsewhere about other countries starting to outsource to the USA (which is sadly a huge bit of irony for us).

You do realize that America hasn't stopped manufacturing. We're just manufacturing different things and with less people, we're manufacturing a hell of a lot more of it. I just think many people get confused over "manufacturing jobs of certain industries" and "manufacturing in general". I blame doublespeak of politicians for this confusion.

What I was bringing up in my previous post is that there is a squeeze on service sector and "dirty jobs" in which Americans and documented/undocumented workers are being reduced to 3rd world conditions. Amazon.com warehouses and Wal-Mart's death grip on local vendors are prime examples.

Sony scales back expectations for Vita after weak sales performance | Ars Technica

But I don't think the economy alone is the culprit in this case.

        (1) Region lock-out (Let's face it, despite what people tend to say, Japan's export business is HUGELY important to their economy)
        (2) Strong Yen, weak Dollar

I'm sure that even if Sony was selling double the units of PS Vita, they still wouldn't be making as much money due to the currency situation.
