  • Looking for new headset

So, my Turtle Beach PX21 are on the fritz - the game sound comes in loud & clear but the chat doesn't. I can barely hear other people with it cranked up, unless I fiddle with the cord and then if I'm lucky it comes in like normal, but I absolutely can not move it or it goes to crap again. Now, I haven't checked my warranty so idk if I can still send it in or not (I doubt it as I bought them about a year and a half ago but who knows) but in the mean time I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good replacement that I can use for both my 360 and PS3.

I actually rather like my PX21 (minus all the cables >,<) as the sound quality was superb when they were working. I know there are some really beast new ones like the Astro A40 MLG edition but that's like $260 lol...

Also still need to see if I can get a replacement receiver for my PC headset damn it.

Well I was going to recommend you some, but then I realized you weren't looking for PC headsets so I stopped caring.

For a PS3 set just replace the Turtle beach headset. They're your biggest bang for your buck really.

Yeah I can get a replacement of the same model I own now for $80, as hoping to find something better/more reliable.

Maybe we should talk about the Razer. Have you tried it out? I kinda want to get one and surprisingly Amazon does ship it here. <_<

I have never tried any Razer products. I hear they work really well for about six months and then die horribly so I never felt like investing lots of money in them would be worthwhile.

Amazon.com: Logitech Wireless Headset F540 with Stereo Game Audio: Electronics
I actually use the above, a logitech f540. It's designed for use with the 360 and ps3, however, i just plugged the usb port(primarliy used for the ps3) into my PC, and windows 7 recognized it and it works near flawlessly. Occasionally you'll find a voice chat program that isn't 100% compatible with it, but vent, teamspeak, mumble, skype all work great.

I got it for 130$ but amazon has it listed for little under 90$ now. Range isn't bad, but nothing to write about. I can usually head around my house without losing signal (1900sqft) but to far out in the yard it loses signal.

                Re: Looking for new headset

I already have a logitech g930 for my PC, and it's pretty damned nice (built-in 7.0!!!) but idk about getting another one for my PS3/360.

I'd love to have something wireless and fairly powerful, but within the $100 range tops. Again my PX21's worked fairly well and I never once threw them or stepped on them or anything stupid like that - they just inexplicably crapped out on me for the chat audio and I'd rather not spend that kind of money only to have another repeat. But damned if it isn't amazing being able to hear people grabbing a freaking medkit 3 floors below me on Halo Reach (as just 1 example of the insane audio quality).

                  Re: Looking for new headset

I have to second the logitech suggestion. I've been using their products for years. They work well... are fairly priced and they last.

I own a Razor for my PC right now and it's meh. The guys from the podcast/D&D can tell you that the sound quality is pretty good, but the damn thing just doesn't fit right on my head. I'm not sure if it's me or the headset... but it's nice for what it is. That being said, I always kinda wish I had gotten a logitech instead.

Don't blame Razer for your funny shaped head.

Whatever you go with make sure to check product reviews for that specific model before you buy. I bought a Logitech headset as well based on a good track record with their products. The first one died on me in under six months; its replacement lasted slightly longer so I couldn't have gotten a RMA on it if I wanted to. When I did some research on it, I found a mountain of bad reviews saying the product didn't live up to Logitech quality standards, and it has been discontinued. So you know, caveat emptor as always.
