not getting the XL... will wait for v3 of the 3DS ;p maybe it will have a second stick added to it.

Besides the fact that there's no room, they already said they're not going to. And if another revision comes out, it wouldn't happen for another 18 months. I'd just grab this one.

I'm actually considering the XL after reading some of the hands-on impressions. The viewing angles are better and even though it seems images are slightly more pixelated, the maximum viewing distance is increased by the screen size so that would cancel out that issue.

While it wasn't the case for earlier releases, it's also newer games on 3DS are much more busy visually, especially Heroes of Ruin and Kingdom Hearts 3D. Games like that and Kid Icarus just benefit from more screen real estate.

No rage over no second stick.

Also worth pointing out that 3DS was at 19 million worldwide just before 3DS XL. I think PS Vita is just over 2 million.

Yeah Vita's biggest most recent spike in units sold came from the release of Persona 4 Golden, which sold 150k at launch and brought Vita near 3DS sales for that week. Now it's behind the PSP in sales again.

Both PSP and DS cast a strong shadow over thier successors but 3DS seems on track to pull away from it. Vita just doesn't have the software and Sony hopes to have sold up to 7.5 million by March 2013. I just don't see it.

No backwards compatibility, no Vita for me for a while.

But I'm not much of a portable gamer to begin with.

Well, not from Japan, but this is the new 3DS-centric Nintendo Direct updated for today in the US, detailing the holiday line-up and what's to come early next year. Or as I call it, "Why I'm waiting til March for a Wii U now."
