  • Lingerie Football League videogame rights obtained by Yukes! What's your reactions?

    People may be puzzled, mew.

Yuke's acquires rights for Lingerie Football League game -Destructoid

But the athletes are official professional football players that know how to play football, mew!!

This really is the fastest growing sport, mew!! =0.0=

the Sports genre is in great need of women that play sports in those games, especially in soccer and football, mew. I think the way companies like EA is treating FIFA, they are ignoring 50% of the market. Like for example, FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany last year made new viewer records
FIFA.com - FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011 sets new TV viewing records

yet EA still has yet to include womens teams in their FIFA series (and they are up to FIFA 13, Women's World Cup was founded in 1991 and millions watch them play the sport.). Even Japanese soccer games have yet to include women in their Winning Eleven or whatever sports games. They are being too one sided with their sports games and not encompassing the entire reality of the sports (soccer, basketball, hockey, football, etc.), which women play professionally too.

Yukes is known for more realistic and more authentic sports simulator presentation and gameplay (like WWE and UFC), so if anyone could deliver a realistic and professional representation of LFL, it would be them.

I don't think my body can hold all this irony.

        ...I laughed.

P.S. Making a game based on a league that blatantly panders to sexist stereotypes does not help the cause of equality for women in professional sports.

I read the players have no problem with it, some even relate the uniform to track and field uniforms, and if it gets more people to respect women playing sports, then that benefits both the women that love playing the sport professionally, as well as the fans. Even those that originally watch it for the appearance have begun to respect the women as athletes and true football players.

It's kind of like gymnastics where girls reveal more skin than the guys in the sport, but that doesn't make them less professional or less respected. It simply expresses the feminine side of the sport, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Guys are allowed to expose as much skin as they want as long as they wear undies, but people think it's degrading when women expose half as much?

Except the only modern sport men play in underwear is wrestling, fake wrestling, lucha libre, and sumo wrestling.

So going into this thread just assuming it was a dumb video game thing, I go on to watch the video to see its a pathetically sad real thing trying to pass itself of as legitimate and empowering for women.

So how about we show some consideration for these ladies and get them a bit more padding, get that skin covered and protected, proper, standardized helmets to protect the head and face.

You know, all the considerations men are given in such a sport. I suppose it goes without saying they get paid less for the obvious risks?

I think the problem runs deeper than that. Some people still judge female politicians by their looks, tennis players by the way they grunt and gymnasts by their physique. The latter is even a problem among the judges themselves. Most people can't seem to separate a woman's looks from her merit as a professional or athlete.

I agree this is bullshit though.

When was the last time YOU saw a good female gymnist that's fat and dumpy?

There's actually some Olympic committee that requires tests for women that are suspected of having "too much" testosterone. Too much and you're disqualified.

See here's the problem with that - everyone has a different balance of that in thier bodies. Oh, and no men are tested for "too much" estrogen in thier bodies. Turns out people don't always do androgyngy because its trendy in some cultures. Often, it's just how they are, you can't just tell people thier bodies are "doing it wrong."

The kicker is, however, is that it's women pushing for these tests in Olympic athletes as much as men. It's so cutthroat you can be disqualified for benefitting from what your body did naturally as a result of training and dedication to your sport.

It's not a matter of fatness or pudginess. Someone with a taller, more athletic build will be rated lower than someone who is small and dainty.

It's a stigma that goes beyond sports. There's a reason so many fitness infomercials use the made-up term "tone." I can't remember the last time I saw a woman pick up a barbell at the gym for something that's not a bench press, and even that's rare. They're afraid of getting "big."
