    This seems needed.

I finally finished off Belial in inferno in Diablo 3 earlier today. Felt good to own his face after slogging through his awful act.

So I'm going to have to start playing games that aren't FFXI now?

    Only half-joking . . .

I'll need a moment to contemplate what my "best" accomplishment(s) in all of gaming could be . . . kind of a broad subject, you know.

No one here plays Poxnora so I won't spend multiple posts explaining the game, but there were two decks I built years ago that I was very proud of.

      1. Wave of Babies - A deck that hinged on a combo that would dump tons of eggs on an enemy base and then heavily reinforce them, ensuring they would all hatch into exploding draconic broodlings and demolish the base. It got the best reactions from people when it actually worked, but it was never terribly viable. Tons of fun though. I miss that deck.

      2. Tournament deck - There was a themed tournament with a custom rule set that I was pretty much obligated to participate in given my place in the game community. At first I was fairly resigned to defeat since I was never a terribly good player. Then I found a loophole in the rule set. I could win by destroying my own base. So I built a deck to do just that. Apparently the spectators went bananas when some of my friends clued them in on what was happening during the match. It was a bit of a gamble, but I figured I'd put on a show before I got defeated, but the staff member overseeing the event ruled in my favor so I ended up making it to the final match and then lost to some arbitrary ruling shenanigans. What I wouldn't give to have been able to see the spectator chat log for that first match...

Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment - Any Game Edition

Let's see, finished Fallout 3 the other week.

It was ... OK. I liked the character creation from the womb, then getting to be a toddler and have a brief childhood before everything hit the fan. If only the rest of the story was as good. There were a few inspired moments here and there, but for the majority of the game, it felt like a very, very sloppy version of Elder Scrolls minus the dungeons and strong level design.

Moving on to New Vegas the graphics, story, morality, factions, gameplay and level design feel so much better. Beyond knowing it runs on the Oblivion engine, I hardly think about any similarity to TES. It feels like the finite rent ran hide it claims to be and has stronger survival elements here and there, particularly early on and very much so in Dead Money, which I'm exploring now.

I've put twice the time into FNV that I have FO3. I don't think I'll even bother with the GOTY version of FO3 when I can have a very different second run in FNV.

Lowered my times in "Chemical Plant Act 2" and "Rooftop Run Act 2" in Sonic Generations. Really surprised me because "Rooftop Run Act 2" is one of the acts I play the most.

Did your FO3 play include side quests and exploration? Because while the main story is relatively short in FO3 the world and the characters/sidequests (the add-ons from GOTY are worth it btw) are what make it so memorable to me.

New Vegas has a much stronger factional and main story gameplay, but lacks the exploration and world design of FO3. So both games have their strong and weak points depending on what you like doing the most. With New Vegas Obsidian reused many assets fromFO3 which also allowed them to focus more on the story and interactions, plus since they had people from the Original FO games they also had a more story driven world impact design.

Bethesda on the other hand focuses more on making the world as big and alive as possible with less focus on storytelling and much more focus on exploration and just living in the world (TES games also follow that philosophy), which is killer for me because I end up spending hundreds of hours just running around exploring the world. >_<

PS > I don't mention graphics because mods make both games look awesome.

PPS > I'm hoping factional interactions get an upgrade in Skyrim in following add-ons, New Vegas style. There's just too much room for improvement in the conflict between Nords, Imperials and those damn Thalmor to let it go to waste.

If card games count, I did go undefeated at the Avacyn Restored prerelease for MTG. That's probably my best accomplishment ever in that department.

Thinking over some of the video games I've played, it occurs to me that there are several games I never got around to finishing. The toughest game I've actually finished is probably Final Fantasy III (and to be fair, that one is a pain in the butt to finish).

They are if you are Borg.

Critical severity +20% and 1000 extra radiation damage on Borg since they can't adapt to them, too chaotic.

I found the quests to be too much like TES. I never felt like there was much to explore - probably because they feared making it feel even more like TES. I realize the DC area is supposed to be ravaged by the aftermath of the bombs, but even so for the sixty hours I roamed there were not a great deal of places to stop and check out.

The Repair skill and weapon building felt like incomplete ideas, bullets were a bit too plentiful which made energy weapons and explosives pointless. The Enclave half of the story felt like a missed opportunity, you never get to truly shape that side of the story, just escape and later pick an ending. And in most cases, opponents have to die. I could kill Dean, Dog and Christine in FNV, but the beauty of it is I don't have to.

I know BGS has it in them to do stuff on that level, but then, Oblivion and Skyrim steered away from the consequence of faction unless you count werewolves, vampires and sides of the war factions. I seem to remember there being consequences for associating with the Thieves Guild or the Telvanni household in Morrowind.

I guess vampires and vampire hunters can be factions in Dawnguard, but isn't that what the Vigalents of Stendarr are for. Then again, they'd hate me if I went werewolf.

Just tried my hand at Ranking Mode in Lollipop Chainsaw for the prologue, ranked #117 on first attempt. Not bad considering the list caps at 1,410.

Killed an hour and created an Enemy character sheet for Bahamut in D&D Pathfinder.

Brutally badass... yet not completely insurmountable.

Beat Lollipop Chainsaw on normal, turns out that's when all the anime character costumes unlock but to get the other movie themed outfits it seems you have to play the higher difficulties.

I unlocked the Busujima Saeko costume, as she was really the only character I liked in High School of the Dead.
