While that is a pretty meh decision on their part, I've never been kicked for winning on private servers. I'm sure that happens but I doubt it's extremely frequent. *shrugs*

Can't click on the link and I don't play BF3, but I'm assuming now you can only play on player-hosted private servers. BBQ is implying most server owners are assholes and will kick you if you win too hard.

I've already been kicked from many servers cause I broke some "Rules", sudh as no grenades, or automatic rifles.

A lot of the rental servers are RETARDED (at the least the U.S. East Ones anyway) and it was nice still having a few DICE servers with default settings.

They still have some official servers, just not as many now.

I didn't say that, but by dropping purely free servers, You've raised the probability of it a bit. Clans have been known to abuse the privilege in this way and it makes the "free" experience that much more frustrating.

Additionally, EA is proving yet again that the online pass created ensure money for server support (it's been part of the argument) is a sham. EA is a company living beyond its means when it come to online sever support as is. They'll take down most online game servers within two years of release. BF3 is just over six months old and they can't afford the upkeep.

Now I expect thier next move will be to a CoD Elite model and fuck that up somehow. Also god forbid anyone have a dedicated server without paying EA for the privlige.

While I personally zone out the second EA complaining happens (let's face it, it's usually due to someone being butthurt due to some inconvenient thing in a game they will claim they are boycotting but still end up buying anyway), this is actually something that got my attention purely due to how incompetent it all seems.

EA know people post one thing on forums and blogs and then do the opposite with their wallets. It's at the point where my first response to articles and threads saying "Look at what EA is doing now!" is to just shrug and say "Well gamers brought it upon themselves by enabling this behaviour" then "Not this shit again..." when I get bored enough to browse over the comments.

I'm not condoning anything EA is doing but it does make me facepalm when people still act surprised when they do something stupid.

I've never experienced that on a player hosted private server in any game before. It's also not as if it's hard to blacklist servers that attract arseholes.

The ONLY game I've been kicked from for winning too hard was League of Legends. Apparently being close tearing down the enemy Nexus with 20 player kills to 0 deaths in less than 10 minutes is doing it wrong because I'm not wasting an hour doing nothing but shooting creeps.

I've also had people ragequit on me and close the lobby on Shogun 2 for winning with matchlocks (even though they are nerfed in every patch to the point where bows are now far superior to guns) though never kick me from their games.

Most of my kicks have been for winning in Old XBL games. I don't do clans, at best just meeting up with one friend and we'd tear up a game.

Kicked from Soldier of Fortune 2 for winning three best of 30 with only throwing knives. Kicked from Wolfenstien for not spawn camping or being a demolitionist or just for amusement.

Perhaps it's less common on PC, but I can tell you XBL's version would suffer for it, PSN might fare better but I doubt it as its an FPS on a console and that attracts kids.

Honestly I only play console FPS games with friends. Rainbow six Vegas on the 360 was pretty notorious for having nothing but Attack and Defend games in Calypso Casino (massively favours the attackers), with all explosives turned off (massively favours attackers since defenders can't hold choke points as efficiently) and Riot Shields off (massively favours attackers again since defenders can't hold a choke point).

That problem vanished when i only played with friends but it was annoying.

You can play a game, but hate the company that makes it. It's what most people do nowadays, it's kind of fun.
