Re: Warriors Orochi 3 receives praise and respect!

I just don't know how someone can be so excited for a series that has two or three versions of the same damn thing every year. When it comes around this often, it ceases to be special.

It's made in Japan so OBVIOUSLY it's the best game ever.

Nuuuu, it still has improvements and tweaks, mew! You have to look in-depth to its changes and features. Of course they won't wipe the drawing board because then it would be like Zelda II which to fans is too different from the gameplay that made it popular.

Also unlike Dynasty Warrriors, Warriors Orochi 3 brings new stories and concepts to the scenario. So it's really not the exact same thing. That would be like saying every Mario game is the same thing or every Metroid game is the same thing or every Pokemon game is the exact same thing.

Characters even received improvements and adjustments, fans have found that some characters play better than they did before, mew! Also clone movesets have been removed, which is an improvement.

You can relate things like Warriors Orochi or Dynasty Warriors to a soccer series, mew. It's more complex than that. Especially considering Warriors Orochi series don't release as frequently as Dynasty Warriors games. In fact there has been a big enough release gap between DW6 and DW7. And WO2 compared to WO3.

It even adds stuff like story you can alter, and a battlefield editor (and you can get battlefield parts to edit it more!) Ya it is a simple editor, but many are enjoying using whatever customization it allows and using their creativity to have fun with what the editor lets them modify, mew!

Also this is the biggest crossover of characters series since SSBB and Namco X Capcom. There's so many amazing team combinations not available in other videogames, mew! It's even more exciting crossover than something small like Street Fighter X Tekken.

And ya each character has enough moves to have fun with, and while there are tiers of characters, the lower tier characters bring challenge and different kinds of fun! It's actually better to have diverse selection of 120 playable characters with some moves, than only 1 character with 120 moves.

Also the command inputs are great, this helps memorizing combos easier. There's really nothing better about memorizing more complex button commands since you would still perform the same combo. Dynasty Warriors style accessibility is one of the reasons why Dynasty Warriors type games will always be more popular and fun than more complex action games like Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, etc.

And it's really not as shallow and dumb as you make it out to be. The Simpsons arcade gameplay is shallow, not this, mew.

Do you even play the games you talk about? Have you played Arkham Asylum or Arkham City? Have you played Zelda II recently? Have you even played Bayonetta?

Making longer button combos is not "complex' its beyond tedious. DW hasn't grown deeper, just more vapid and uninteresting.

Arkham City and even the most recent Zelda give you the means to take on hordes of enemies without the nonsense of extensive ane repetitive button combos. Each enemy encounter can now be unique and enemy AI has become more varied and evasion and defense have become more critical than ever in these games. Not the case with the last Warriors game I played, that game gives you no way out if you're found yourself in an enemy combo, you just have to stand there and get pummeled. 12 years of Warriors games and this has not changed. When Batman senses an incoming attack, he has the option to avoid it and have it end up missing or knocking around the other enemy he was just fighting. He might take the bat from the incoming thug and knock it into his stomach. He can take a batarang and stun other incoming enemies.

Its not just evolving past what DW does, but fusing it with things I've loved about Zelda and Metroid for years. Batman is a tool based character, why shouldn't he be more like Link and Samus since they are tool-based characters, too?

Dynasty doesn't have that kind of respect for other games, it refuses to evolve and adapt outside ideas. It wants to bang its head on a wall like older Batman games used to and not change because its not about making newer better Warriors game, but another Warriors games so they can have your money.

Again, TK wanted to make Pokemon Warriors. How does a Warriors game even begin to work in Pokemon's favor? How does it tailor to the strengths of both IPs?

It doesn't. That's why Nintendo shot that idea and redirected them to base it on Nobunaga's Ambition instead. It was a stroke of genius, because now you had an IP Pokemon characters could work within the confines of. NA is more of a tactical, turn-based game and so is pokemon. NA is about forging relationships and alliances, Pokemon is a bit like that, NA had RPG elements, Pokemon is an RPG.

Had it been another Warriors game it would be another game to pass over for most gamers. You'd probably claim it was awesome but not play it because ewww Nintendo.

Re: Warriors Orochi 3 receives praise and respect!

This is coming from a huge fan of the Warriors series who has been playing it since it was a fighting game on the PS1: The series needs to end.

Okay starting off, Dynsaty Warriors 7 and Warriors Orochi 3 are great beat em ups. Problem is is that KOEI just don't want to let this cash cow series go. The series is massively popular in Japan and the UK, heck the main English language fansite for the Warriors series "KOEI Warriors" is based in and ran by UK players. It makes them a ton of money and they really don't have to change much.

But the problem shows just by that statement. You will have to go back to Samurai Warriors or Dynasty Warriors 3 to get a DW game that was actually good and innovative, rather than just improving the graphics and making the AI dumber.

It's basically the Mario syndrome. Once you own a 2D Mario game or a Mario Kart game, you basically have all of them. This is not an attack on Mario games, lots of people love them and if you like to buy each one, that's fine, they're fantastic games. The core gameplay for 2D Mario and Mari Kart games and the stages never actually change. I'm not calling it a bad thing. New generations that are just discovering Mario are getting to play basically the same game that we played as children. That's a fantastic thing because it lets multiple generations of gamers to enjoy a series. With the way Mario does it, it brings people together.

But the problem with the Warriors Series is that it takes it way too far. The reason why it's not a bad thing for the Mario franchise is that Nintendo are smart enough to only bring out a new 2D Mario and Mario Kart game once every console generation and they save gimmicks and gambles for the other Mario games they release in between those. But when you have basically the same game coming out every year with only minor tweaks like with the Warriors games...It sort of hints that you might want to let that franchise go.
