    But above all else, make sure you play Persona 3 or 4 in some form. They are easily some of the best JRPGs to come out in the last decade.

    They are the rare examples of where substance wasn't traded out for style.

    And I couldn't agree more with BBQ on the characters. Unlike the paper thin personalities you may find in some RPGs, you'll grow to love the cast in these games early on.

      well, except Yukari Takeba. She's kind of a bitch all the time to everyone. Ken's a bit annoying, too.

      Everyone else in P3 is likable.

      Everyone in P4 is likeable.

      ----

      The other reason to play Persona games?

      The music.

        This thread is not about Persona. I love the Persona series to pieces, but can we get back on topic, please? I only mentioned it as an aside to facilitate understanding of the game mechanics in the Atelier series.

        EDIT for Armando: Yes, the setup is very similar to Recettear.
