  • Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Every time I open steam, I see this game on the from page... I'm thinking of trying it, but a 3 hour download does not seem fun for a demo, then another three hour download to play the full game is a I buy it.

I also don't want to take the 60$ plunge that comes with the game, and it turns out to be a complete flop like most games recently.

So... Has anyone tried it, and would they recommend it as a good RPG to play for a bit every few days, or would it take many hours a day to do anything in the game? To me, from what I can see, it looks like an Elder Scrolls knock off, but, what are your thoughts on it, by who has played it.

    Thank you for the info.

I played the demo on my 360 and found that the combat was fun, the world is vibrant, and the populace really has a lot to talk about. I wasted a majority of my time (timed demo) following the main storyline and found the demo's boundaries. I then tried my hand at a few quests and felt that there really wasn't any resolution to them. Maybe I just chose the wrong quests. The quest endings just felt empty. Kinda like Pocket Legends if you've played that before.

My friend (who got me into FFxi) bought it and he absolutely loves it. The combat system is apparently very entertaining. I've heard/read very little that was negative regarding it.

3 hrs for a download?!?!?!? I'm pretty sure it didn't take that long for me to get it on my 360... that sux.

Yea 3 hours is the estimated time for the Download.

I want to try it, but dont feel like buying it or demoing it if its going to be that long of a download...

Its TES Lite, really. Less open, more competent on action, less subtle about its obnoxious story. Not bad, but just shy of being great.
