A new Bauldur's Gate site popped up

Baldur's Gate

No real info on this site yet, but there are old art assets layered into the background and the site was put up by the team that did the MDK2 HD remake for PC. So I'd wager its another HD remake or an iPad release.

Let's just hope present day Bioware isn't involved.

Because they probably do the following:

- Voiced protagonist, male or female, human only.
- Drop the complex alignment system for just "kinda good" and "kinda bad' choices.
- It will be a duck and cover shooter with small skill trees for various classes
- Dating sim elements and everyone will just be bi now (worked for Skyrim).
- Talking, talking, talking, talking, talking, talking, talking.
- Online pass for multiplayer, premium day one DLC.
- Poly-sided dice sold with DLC weapons.

Pretty sure its either and HD version of iOS thing.

No harm will come to it, though i suppose the interface could use an overhaul. I still have my original copy, I just need to get it back from my roommate since he never plays it.

I loved Baldur's Gate and the whole series.... I hope they make a new game for the PS3...

Why would you want a new game in the franchise? The story has finished. The tale has been told. I'd be down for more Infinity engine goodness, but I can't see a continuation of the saga of the Bhaalspawn doing anything other than leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

At that point you're better off just creating a brand new story with new characters that just happens to take place on the Sword Coast. I just don't think there's a need to continue the saga after it has ended. Maybe set a new game a few years after the whole Bhaalspawn shenanigans happened and make some references to it, but all good stories must come to an end and nothing good ever comes of prolonging the story past that point.

They've already had spin-offs - BG:DA and BG:DA2. Those weren't bad either, though they were developed by Snowblind and not Bioware. I think there's plenty of room for another game in that spin-off series.

To my knowledge those weren't at all related to the Bhaalspawn saga and were just cashing in on the name recognition.

You do realize this is just Forgotten Realms stuff, right?

A storyline was completed in Baulder's Gate. It doesn't mean something else of significance can't ever happen there again.

No shit this is Forgotten Realms stuff. If you want to play this off as any PC game that takes place in the Forgotten Realms setting is a Baldur's Gate game, fine. Except not really, because Baldur's Gate was(up until the spin-off action games) about the Bhaalspawn saga. Or shall we conveniently overlook the fact that the other storyline they set in Toril got its own name: Icewind Dale. Dark Alliance getting the BG name slapped on it was just a very intelligent marketing decision. There's no reason not to have more adventures in the Forgotten Realms, but I object to the idea that it all has to be done under the banner of "Baldur's Gate".

I'm just trying to figure out what the problem is here. There's no real evidence this is anything other than a rerelease at this point and everything we knew so far is based on recycled art assets. Again, the group involved with the site is the same that handled an MDK2 remake as well as a Wiiware port.

I'm not saying any game set FR is automatically BG, because there were other set in FR, I'm just not getting the hostility you're showing toward the very idea of another game set in BG. Mass Effect is about to see a finished storyline, but that doesn't mean they can't do another Mass Effect game ever or that doing so is a completely shameless cash-in on the name. There is such a thing as wearing something thin, but the stuff we're talking about here is extremely open to eventual sequels or spin-offs.
