I'm also on the WTF? side of the direct B&W sequels. Just makes it more annoying because I would usually wait until the improved, combined-color games came out before buying because I usually couldn't decide between the two originals. Now I... well, I just don't quite know what to do... lol.

I... don't see what's so confusing about picking a pokemon game. Both games, when they come out, are essentially the same game with a fe different pokemon in them and many common ones between them. I pick them based on the Legendary on the cover that I'd rather have.

It's not a big deal, I was just joking around a bit, saying omg, I can't continue doing what I have been doing for the rest of the series... but I'll probably sit these ones out all the same. Kinda waiting for the 3DS games anyways.

I don't know if I had posted this before, but another bit of news that came out last week was that Monolith Soft, the Xenoblade team, has a 3DS project in the works. Given the last two games they did for Nintendo were RPGs and everything they made for PS2 was RPG, I'm calling it now - Its an RPG.

Really looking forward to Xenoblade, though, ever EU player that's talked about it seems to think that its the best JRPG this gen. Pity Nintendo still hasn't announced plans for US and EU localization of their DS game, Soma Bringer.

To be fair the third color that usually comes out is more than just a different set of Pokemon. But, I would argue that a sequel is still a better approach. I'd rather have them continue the plot of the first 2 games rather than just fill in some of the holes.

Also I heard B&W2 have extras if played on the 3DS.

Hopefully they do at least rebuild the color palate so when its played on 3DS it doesn't look desaturated. Most games don't suffer too bad from it, but it is noticeable There have been gams where the desaturation isn't an issue at all because they just chose a stronger color palate. I just got Devil Survivor 2 today and it looks very nice, Aliens Infestation and Monster Tale also look great.

Nintendo needs to rework the GBA emulation a little for 3DS, too. It's not so much that they look stretched on the top screen - though they do just a little - its more than the games look too dim even on the strongest setting. A game like Yoshi's Island should just pop in terms of color, but it looks a little dim instead of desaturated.. I think if they added the option to shift GBA games down to the bottom screen - as DS and DS Lite did - that that might resolve the issues there.

Aside from that, I wonder how data will carry over this time, if at all. Since its a direct sequel, i would hope there's some kind of option to transfer your Pokemon from one game to the next and not have to deal with the usual restrictions surrounding that from iteration to iteration. I might give BW another shot later in the year.

Can't really comment on the GBA issue because I'm still holding out 'til next Christmas. I figure by then they'll have a hardware revision or its safe to say there won't be any any time soon. I'm still secretly hoping for Virtual Boy emulation though.

Not saying you're gonna like Black/White but it's probably one of the most playable versions. Older games tended to shaft you with Pokemon that had either bad stats, bad moves, or both.

                  Re: OK, this is fishy.

i already had BW once, it was just coming out at an intense time (3DS launch, other DS games and more) and I think that made it hard for me to keep interest in it. It certainly eased you in better than other games in the series did so you didn't feel screwed with constant early vendor trash pokemon before you got to the gyms.

Did you forget I played Pokemon before? The comment kinda came off that way.

Anyway, here's yet another dumb IGN editorial about how they'd run Nintendo if they were Nintendo, which is the usual dumb shit they right every other week.

Is Pokemon Hurting the 3DS? - Nintendo DS Feature at IGN

Personally, I think with the games 3DS has right now its going to do just fine. This month was solid for 3DS owners - Mutant Mudds, Resident Evil, Sakura Samurai, Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D and then Dillon's Rolling Western to close it out. DS owners got another monster RPG in SMT: Devil Survivor 2 today. If every other month can be half as solid from here on out, Pokemon will be fine on DS later this year and 3DS will be fine as well.

Plus Nintendo didn't totally leave Pokemon fans behind for owning physical copies like Sony left behind Monster Hunter fans with physical PSP copies for Vita. Tough shit for them, rebuy the game digitally are pay the insulting "UMD Passport" tax for a digital copy. Now Nintendo's install base skyrocketed because of Monster Hunter exclusives and perhaps fans not wanting to risk getting burned like that again by Sony. I keep hearing people say Monster Hunter will turn Vita's fortunes around, but I don't think that will happen this time.

I'm sure by this time next year we'll be hearing about a proper 3DS Pokemon as Game Freak does seem to have more than one team going at it on Pokemon games. I just hope Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition gets out here because it is too crazy not to localize and release.
