Does the other stores have the pre-order bonus as well? I'm confused at times when Amazon.com says, "Amazon.com exclusive". I sometimes wonder if they're pulling my leg ...
Haley Joel Osment as Sora
David Gallagher as Riku
Leonard Nimoy as Master Xehanort Hayden Panettiere as Xion
Jesse McCartney as Roxas and Ventus
Quinton Flynn as Axel/Lea
Interesting they dropped Alison Stoner as Xion and replaced her with Hayden Panettiere.
Got KH3D off Gamefly yesterday. So far I'm just on the second world and i"m not liking the "Drop" concept that much. Not because it frequently switches you between characters you can mitigate that a great deal - its just pointless and the story could have unfolded like BBS did.
The worlds don't feel as boxed in as BBS, much bigger and fun to platform about and explore though the "Flowmotion" mechanic is a bit slippery at times. The 3D effect is on-par with most Nintendo first party releases, but I did notice some choppiness in Pinocchio's Prankster Paradise - Yeah, more Pinnocchio, but before the whale while he was lying so much. That world was too hard for me to skip to, so I went to Notre Dame to level up first.
The Deck mechanic from BBS is back but Skill fusion element is gone, replaced by the Dream Eater pets. Its not really like Pokemon at all, you just collect shards of "figments" to create them. Whether you're renting or buying, you might be glad to know the different cards that EU and JP players get are not region locked and can be scanned into your game. I used my smartphone to pull up images and it worked that way.
I'll try to post some more impressions later, I don't have much of an attention span right now for games for some reason.
Well, I've been playing it for a while now and I'm pleased by how surprisingly difficult the game can be at times. You'd think the Flowmotion tactics would take away from the game and make it all about spamming aerial attacks. And, to a degree at the beginning of the game, that's how it is. But as you get deeper into the game, it (thankfully) starts punishing for relying exclusively on that.
As far as Drop goes, I do find it distracts from the flow of the game. Sometimes, all I want to do is run around and beat up enemies and collect loot. So I do find it distracting that I also have to pay attention to another meter. I do somewhat see the point of it, especially for the boss battles. Essentially, you have a time limit to beat bosses because, if you let the Drop gauge deplete and you switch characters, you have to restart all over. So none of that business of effectively doing a zombie hit-and-run tactic. Enemies also seem to be very accurate so just dodge rolling all over the place isn't going to cut it.
Guess the Deck commands are here to stay. Wouldn't be surprised if its used for Kingdom Hearts III as well (if they ever get to that game).
Speaking of which, storyline-wise, it's everything we've come to expect from Kingdom Hearts now in that it's pretty much turning into a joke about itself. Sora's still one of the most naive and uninteresting characters around. The only character he seems to have more weight than is Kairi, and I'm betting that's largely due to lack of screen time on Kairi's part. Sigh, what happened to the Sora from the first game who I was actually interested in getting to know? And even Chain of Memories where he was showing off some aspects of his personality where he is hardly a paragon? Why did he have to go all butterflies and sunshine on us?
The worlds gets points over Kingdom Hearts II in that the worlds are integrated well into the story, much like the first game and the spin offs have been (Chain of Memories notwithstanding). But then, as far as how the worlds are integrated into storyline goes, II was always the weakest entry in the series. And, to me, is fast turning into the weakest game in the series. II was a huge letdown of a game.
On a final note. Dive- much more fun than that gummi ship nonsense.
Meh, I don't care for dive. I liked how in BBS they just skipped it. Keyblade Masters just go Power Ranger, their keys turn into space vehicles of some kind and they travel to other worlds. In 358/2 days they just had portals they came through. Re:Coded you were a computer program.
Its always when we have games centered on Sora, Riku and Kairi that we get these dumb travel minigames.
