Don't get me started about how FPS and "action" films seem to be the big trend in the past few years. I'm hoping it passes soon...because quite frankly, I'm tired of 12 shooter titles coming out on the consoles and pc's every month, and at least 2-3 "action" films where the protagonist is either: A. a hitman. B. a soldier. or C. some ex-convict/assassin guy. I mean, I get it--I like action films and FPS every once a while too, but seriously I want some variety.

Put up a vote for "Best Video Game [insert subject of question here]" and people will not give much thought about what's in the actual blank. Fanboys make it a contest, casuals polled with hey grab the first thing that comes to mind, hence votes for Mario and Sonic games which never really have interesting endings.

I can say Mario Galaxy 2's ending made me smile, but Super Metriod's ending was sad with a strong dose of kickass that made me feel awesome. FFX's ending was sad but filled with hope. MGS3's ending was patriotic.

You kinda missed the point lol, which is no COD should be even considered for that list. Super mario Bros doesn't even have an ending!


How Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction wasn't anywhere on that list either is beyond me. Tyrael smashing the world stone and leaving the fate of the world more or less up in the aether.

Not a single Xenosaga game was on there either, or Chrono Trigger, None of the Silent Hill games (2 in particular for me)... SC2? Really? I liked the ending to WoL, but it didn't have the impact that the original or Brood War did. I could go on at length, that list just needs to be abolished.

That list offends me greatly. It reads like a damn popularity contest rather than a list that did any worthwhile analysis of games' endings. For god's sake, a Pokemon game made it onto the list. When has a Pokemon ending ever been worth mentioning? Did the newest iteration completely revamp the formula and insert a story that would even allow there to be an ending that carried more weight than a bag of marshmallows?

Black and White was more story-driven than other Pokemon entries, but I wouldn't say it was edge-of-your-seat compelling stuff. The bad guys of the game basically questioned the premise of the entire game, almost as parody, misinterpreting the bond between trainers and their pokemon as some oppressive act and so they hypocritically trained pokemon so they could liberate them all.

At least that's what I think it was about, i was too busy training a fire monkey to really know.
