So I finally beat it, and now I can return and join the discussion lol.
        Ending Spoilers

I'm going to be restarting the game to follow a strict leveling guide, so that I can max out my characters. Trying to decide if I want to focus more on their strongest attributes (strength for Noel and magic for Serah), or evenly distribute them for more variety and paradigm options.

Your spoiler tag doesn't work btw.

And it was a garbage ending. It was a great scene, but to just end it like that and throw up a TBC that's going to be played out later via DLC is just all kinds of wrong. You don't make that kind of an ending unless you fully intend to make another game, which SE doesn't. There's a difference between planning ahead for future installments and simply withholding content to milk people, which is exactly what SE has done here.

It does piss me off that they weren't planning on a full-on sequel, especially considering any DLC will most likely not include FMV's, so we won't get a true FMV ending. At least X-2's ultimate ending had an FMV accompanying it (although I doubt most people were able to unlock it lol).

Oh I'm sure it'll have an FMV ending, and it will likely be around 10~15 minimum.

And worst of all, people will buy it giving SE the greenlight to do it again.

Square Reveals Latest FFXIII-2 DLC Details - News - www.GameInformer.com

                Didn't see that posted already.

I'll be honest, I was thoroughly disappointed with the game. Reminded me of how underwhelmed I was with S-E reskinning zones in FFXI and calling it new content, seems it's their design philosophy now for future games. I doubt I'll be purchasing any DLC, especially costumes, and after reading Mal's post about the DLC ending I have to admit I'm really finding it hard to consider giving S-E any of my money in future.

Shame, there were a number of elements in FFXIII-2 I enjoyed as well like the monster system even though I missed having more party members to choose from. Also, there didn't seem to be any need to tactically allocate Crystarium points at all as it's so easy to max all jobs anyway even though you'll probably only ever use Com and Rav with the rare switch to the other roles for boss fights. That and many of the jobs bottomed out on abilities at 40-50 so you had no real incentive to level them past that other than a few job bonuses and high HP etc. Considering I picked up FFXIII on Platinum I can't shake the feeling I paid three times as much for FFXIII-2 and received about a third of the content.

Re: FFXIII-2 gameplay, strategies, comments, etc...

See, that's part of why I hated the monster system. Noel & Sarah are just awful at every other role but COM & RAV, and even at those monsters like Chichu and Cloudburst are so overpowered with the right builds it almost feels pointless, especially with easy mode. There's also no "right" way to level Noel or Sarah - the official guide is full of crap, their stats max out exactly the same no matter what you do. It's different for monsters since you can choose what bonuses they get at each level and they only have the one role to level up.

I would have gladly gotten XIII-2 and the DLC, had it not been for that ending. That is the single biggest sleight in the form of DLC I have ever seen. No SE, I refuse to buy an unfinished game. And I'm amazed at Kitase quite frankly, given the guy's track record for amazing games (much like Tanaka) at how the quality of the series seems to continually degrade.

I dunno what you're smokin, their stats can vary drastically depending on how you level them up. And it makes a huge difference in the end, especially with auto-battle choosing to focus on attacks that have the highest stat. So if you want your non-controlled character to always use Ruin as a Com, you're gonna need to give them mostly magic level-ups on the bigger nodes, etc.

On the topic of re-using areas, just look at FFX-2, that thing was full of rehashed locations with a small selection of new dungeons. At least XIII-2 has a few completely new cities to explore.

Eh everything I've read points ot the contrary.

Not that it particularly matters anyway, the game is stupid easy. All the "hard" fights were a breeze even on normal. A couple of semi-close calls but nothing I couldn't manage, especially with the "Destroyer of the Timeline" at my side :D

I just remember seeing possible max-level stat variances of around 100-200 when the max stats were around 800 for their primary stat, indicating a pretty large variance is possible (up to 25% lower stats) if you don't level up correctly.

But you're right, the game overall is incredibly easy, needs a "hard mode." Maybe in an update? Not holding my breath.

It starts to get fairly difficult midway through, but once you get your hands on monsters like Chichu, Cloudburst, Flanitor etc. it becomes trivial.

Even the game's "Ultimate" weapons, the Odinblade/Odinbolt or w/e (fragment weapons) don't bring Sara & Noel up to par with the best monsters.

So is anyone buying the Sazh dlc? Before you buy, realize it's basically just a few card games and a little bit of story. And Sazh in your party. I'm buying it anyways but, I'm sure some people will be expecting someting a bit more substantial.

Retro-sexy time with Serah? Waaay too outdated, but people that only likes 20 year old anime may appreciate the gesture. XD
