I completely disagree.

I respect that. I think I have a different viewpoint because I understand how it can be hard to call a project "complete." As a composer, I many times will have a hard time calling a song actually complete, because if I could I would 'perfect' it forever... so it would be nice to be able to release it, make some money off of it, and then release DLC later to make it even better. However, Square Enix is a big company, and they do create project goals and deadlines, meaning from the beginning they were planning on releasing this content as DLC rather than trying to include it in the game at all. Which isn't how it used to be. So I also see where you're coming from.

Unrealistic deadlines can break an entire game, look at FFXIV and Dragon Age 2 as the best most recent examples. FFXIV clearly needed more than an extra year of development but it makes me wonder how DA2 would have turned out if it had an extra 6 months. It was hardly a bad game but it did feel very incomplete from start to finish.

The Dragon Age part. None of the charm of the original, all of the crap ME is saddled with.

The combat just needed refinement, not an action-based overhaul. The characters all lack the layers of the DA:O cast. They kept choice, but diminished consequence to the point there really wasn't any. In KOTOR and DA:O you could piss off party members and they'd leave - with stuff you gave them (consequence!) - but now you can placate them and get them to stay.

Also, they had Felicia Day for DLC. She's cute and talented, but her writing is absolute crap. Have you seen The Guild?

They had kids write a quest that was more entertaining.

Are you sure you played the same game I did, with vastly unlikable characters and ridiculously stupid equipment? That and re-using the same dungeon 10 times got pretty old by the halfway point of the game.

DA1, the only character I didn't understand was the stiff-as-a-plank Sten. He spoke so little (intentionally) that it was hard to ever identify or like him. Everyone else was amusing in some fashion.

DA2's cast, aside from Varric and Isabella, are a bunch of broody incompetents who angst over everything. Merrill is borderline tolerable because of her naivete. Fenris is horrendously dysfunctional. Aveline wouldn't know a joke if it came up and shoved her shield where the sun doesn't shine. Sebastian is almost designed from the get-go to be instantly hated by everyone. Bethany is so vanilla it's scary, and her brother Carver has an even bigger chip on his shoulder than Fenris does. Oh, and then there's Anders, who went from an annoying fop in DA: Awakening, to this ticking time bomb of a terrorist who no one in their right mind would want to be anywhere near (but who you are more or less forced to use since he's your only healer).

Been an add on Uk tv today first tiem I've seen it for this game, no mention of any extras at all and they only advertised the x-box 360 version.

Yup that's it, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I ran through it twice. I never played the first one so i had nothing to compare it to.

You can both be right. DA2 had a lot of things wrong with it but it was still fun and enjoyable if you could put aside the idea that it could've should've been much better.

What I really came in here to say, though, is WTH is that j9 trashing something on the first page? What it- I don't- world upside down!

I got the impression DA2 was like Lord of Shadow.

Decent game on it's own but very subpar as a part of the franchise.

I said I'm not buying it, not that I wouldn't play it altogether. Rent it for a week tops, get my fill and if I like it, wait until it's discounted like I got 13 for $20. I WAS gonna pay it full price, but then SE had to go and arbitrarily cockblock Canada. It doesn't even make any sense, we're on the same damned continent side-by-side to each other. But SE (not Amazon, apparently - at least according to what I've read) said no, screw that, U.S. only.

I think he meant he would rent it later on, but not purchase a copy. That way SE isn't really getting his money, but Blockbuster or whatever will.
