Re: What was your favorite Boss Fight?

In order of what the hell comes to my mind first...

General Raam from Gears of War 1 was pretty freaking tough... I don't remember playing him on anything but the most difficult of the difficulty settings but, man... that bastard made me work for that win. In contrast Gears2 had one of the sh!tt!est end bosses I've ever encountered. Not there yet in Gears3.

Link's shadow from Legend of Zelda II ... one of the first controller bending/breaking moments I remember is coming across that a-hole. I think I am still intimidated when I'm playing a game and my shadow/evil-version shows up... I instantly feel paranoid.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (or w/e) ... the Tigrex. Yeah you end up pwning him later like he's a little bitch but when my buddy and I first came across him we were ripped apart several times before we came up with strategies that worked.

Glados from Portal ... just one of the most memorable bosses I've ever encountered. Not necessarily hard but her/his/it's dialogue was amazing.

Promathia... even though I had lvl'd SAM to get past the airship battle, my group insisted I tank that big bright sissy on DNC. After listening to so many people that DNC was useless it really felt good to prove all the nay-sayers wrong at least to myself... and Prishe.

Ninja Gaiden 1's (NES) final boss.... I never beat him and I never will. There are not enough controllers in the world to survive my frustration in even getting to that !#@$!@#%$@#%^&^*^&#$!#%$!@#$!@#%^&*&^&*$.

Dark Souls had a few good ones. Hydra down below the tree, Smough/Ornstein, and Five(?) Kings were a pain in the ass. Not looking forward to any of those in NG+.

Every boss I've encountered in SotC is pretty amazing so far... and pretty difficult for me. I've never played SotC so I'm coming from knowing nothing about it.

Idk... there are just so many good bosses.

You are aware that once you've beaten it you can just buy the key items from the Gobby in PJ right?

Sucks if you fail though. Honestly I hated all 3 of those mini-expansions. They were entertaining, but the horrible design of the missions just made me want to stab someone.

        I tried to solo it but got owned on the second henchmen wave. Yay KI reacquisition for me. <_<;

        So nope, no gobbie.

And if only you could just purchase items to replay mission BCs you've cleared.

          Hmm Fave boss fights

Terra's Lingering Sentiment from Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix. Just an overall fun (yet very hard) secret boss. The Roxas fights were also very fun. The Data rematch is the only one I of those I can do a "no damage" fight on.

Any of the Tales series "Arms" bosses. I'm just a gluten for punishment.

Super Mario RPG, Yaridovitch. Its not a hard fight, but when I first played the game when I was a kid, I had so much trouble with it. I had such a feeling of joy when I finally beat it.

Any of the Vanitas fights from KH: BbS. I just really like the song "Enter the Darkness".

Phantom Ganon from Ocarina of Time. The table tennis match in the second part is what it is all about.

I beat Zelda II for the first time last summer and was utterly surprised at how there was practically no legitimate way to beat him other than the "jump and facestab" tactic that every other enemy in the game is vulnerable to.

I beat it when it came out.... that fight has stuck with me that long

I don't remember exactly... but I seem to recall that there may have been a tactic where you use your sword at his face then push down and it hits the shadows vulnerable low spot. If you go for his lower part you swing and release pushing down so your sword hits his vulnerable upper part. Course that may be another boss or maybe another game, lol. It's been a long time.

Re: What was your favorite Boss Fight?

The first boss fight that popped into my head upon reading this thread:

The mid-level fight against Lunar in Mischief Makers. It was just a lot of fun to throw all his explosives back at him and watch him bounce off the snow. One of the few boss fights in any game that I've simply gone back and played over and over again for the fun of it.

Heck, that game in general was just awesome and totally flew under everyone's radar.

                  Absolute Virtue.

                  Okay, for serious:

Sword Dancer from Tales of Symphonia - awesome magic track for that fight and just an all-out difficult fight, took a lot of strategy and a lot of tries, and felt damn good when I beat it.

Pandemonium Warden - we didn't beat it on the only attempt I was a part of, but we made BG/FFXI history by streaming it and it was awesome.

Dynamis Lord - it took my first Dynamis shell numerous tries to get it right, but man, the screaming and hollering over vent when we finally beat it was awesome.

                  Those are my most memorable.

Re: What was your favorite Boss Fight?

I don't have any favorite boss fights. Most of the responses given are usually with regards to (a) difficulty (b) lore/story (c) emotional cutscenes prior to and/or after fight.

If there was any that I found amusing, it would be an outdoor in an MMO like WoW ... for example, a rare spawn named Ghostcrawler, whose main attack is the "Ban Stick" which applies a "nerf" debuff reducing your stats and potency while making you run to the nearest forum to shed your tears.

lots of great bosses in FFXI, mew! Including Kam'lanaut! Even the first dragon boss you fight is very intense!

oh and Yuyuko from Touhou 7 Perfect Cherry Blossom deserves mention. Very emotional and great epicness! =^^=

Valis I, II, III and IV bosses are very immense too, including Rogles, Megas, Glames and Galgear/Gallagher
