I'm sure the game is fun, but...

- Intense? No. Ninja Gaiden is intense. Devil May Cry is intense. Geometry Wars is intense. This is more like Punch Out! with extra moves and unnecessarily anime stylings.

- Obsessive pandering to Japanese anime tastes is what is killing the Japanese game industry. Every year the "mainstream" of Japanese gamer culture drifts further away from the rest of the world, while that segment of the gaming public there becomes increasingly smaller and more fragmented. This sort of half-assed anime storytelling might play well to the audience in Japan and a relatively small contingent of otaku elsewhere. That doesn't mean such games shouldn't be made, or don't have their place, but let's keep things in perspective.

Considering how well the PSP is doing in Japan I wouldn't say a PSP game like this needs anything outside mainstream Japanese anime style unless they are seriously considering making a NA version, in which case I'd say, "Just don't."

Neptunia made pretty clear this kind of content -specially when localized- just doesn't work at all in the NA market.

mew! anime shouldn't be stereotyped or discriminated against! There is a lot of western art designs that come across as generic, mew! but it's a style, a flavor mew! You can't reinvent a flavor like vanille without talking about strawberry!

I heard NISA might localize it, mew! They are in the process but no date said. Oh mew the action is so intense, it's like Megaman Legends and DMC3 in a hyper turbo mode! and the designs are very interesting!

As far as I can tell, everything about B★RS after the initial music video, cool as that was, ended up being supremely over-hyped and, well, a flash in the pan. Mediocre. Not living up to even reasonable expectations, much less fanatical ones.

I expect this to be no different.

Are you really complaining because they are not targeting an anime game they want to make -that you deem terrible- for people outside Japan? Shouldn't you be happy you wont get it here?

Or... is it your pride saying that everything needs to cater western tastes or something?

PS > And don't worry, with PSP games production costs they will be more than A-OK with a Japan-onry release. This is why companies still make games for the PS2 over there or have moved to the PSP instead of the PS3.

No thanks, they should not, under any circumstances localize this. Neptunia was painful enough. orz

Not to mention it costs me pretty much the same importing from Japan/Korea as importing from the US anyway. XD

I'm a fan a BRS. But the gameplay looks too linear and on top of that it's not as 'intense' as I had hoped. Don't get me wrong it looks good. But not something I'd pick up right away. The replay value itself does look a bit shoddy. The free roam aspect is nice however, I won't lie there. But overall rating fromg me is about a C- I'd play it, beat it and return it to the store.

First off, please do not diss a classic like FF 7. It by no means deserves disrespect and two, the cutscenes don't mean anything versus the actual gameplay, all it does is sugar coat the game and the player into believing they will be sucked into an intense fantasy world. Also not many american fans will succumb to the craze like they do with Vocaloid. I hate to say it but your holding this game at a higher standard than what it's actually worth, if this is for the PSP I'll download it and try it myself.
