Pretty effective on its own if you have decent mf gear, it seems. Might try it later.
A good one I found was in Act II, as long as you're any point before moving on to Act III beyond that fortress event (I forgot the name) The desert areas prior to this will always respawn resplendent chest 70% of the time (1) and 30% of the time (2) as well as named champions (blue, purple and yellow) Because it's pretty time consuming (for me, Nightmare mode) to clear the entire zone, that's all I used to have time for and then would log for the night to repeat the next time. At the point where I was, I would also do the zone after the fortress as well to get additional chances for resplendent chests. I've also gotten no less than 10 rares off barrels in both zones over 8 or 9 "resets" and 1 legendary (from a barrel as well) So DO NOT skip these destroyable environments!

Edit: Wanted to add this was with an 85% MF set.

Well as far as gold farming goes, on A2 NM my witch doctor with approx 140% GF is getting absolutely ridiculous amounts of money off mobs - the problem is maintaining a high dps + gf setup.

Thankfully I also have over 100/tic HP regeneration and as soon as it's available I'm switching my last buff to the pet one that grants them 100% of my regen & thorns (though I still say all the thorns gear in this game is pure shit compared to what was in D2 - so is the life steal).

You don't need high dps with mf/gf if all you're doing is "farming". That means just constantly recycling the same map over and over and not progressing in the story at all. Once you are progressing, it's better to go your normal dps gear. This is the more efficient route, because I sure as hell don't want to have to deal with trying to find that "optimal" high dps with gf/mf on the AH.

The jump in difficulty from act 1 to act 2 inferno is hilariously large. The damage output from normal mobs is comparable to elites from act 1. A single volley from a sand wasp hit me for about 25k damage. I died three times just getting through the canyon where you first meet Eirena. Back to farming!

It's been *much* easier than I expected actually, especially with all the gold I'm getting along the way. The reason I do it this way is so I can progress and rack up the gold I need to update my gear as I keep going.

I just provided a much more efficient manner in "farming" especially if you're horizontally progressing all of the characters (which I thought you were) It cuts down the back and forth that other players end up doing and then end up complaining about the game being a "time sink" and "grindy". I highly recommend the MF farming route because of the considerable amount of mat you require for just about anything at 60. But I would hold off on going hard core until after the update so that you won't have useless legendaries (Blizzard said there's no retroactivity for updating legendary items -- the stat changes only apply to legendaries acquired AFTER the patch)

My hardcore barb is doing fine actually, and is also geared for GF and offense.

Going that route has been amazingly helpful, as even the other night when I blew about 140k on gear I made that all back in roughly 30~40 min of progressing my witch doctor through A3 and A4 normal.

Do NOT underestimate high levels of goldfind. The returns are far more consistent and tangible than MF. Despite my wizard having over 140 MF (around 129 right now because I removed my topaz for a ruby to EXP) I don't get that many rares, and even fewer that I can actually use. Plus selling stuff on the AH is a bit of a pain and doesn't really pay off until 60+ so to keep my gear up I like to take a break on my doc and earn a lot of cash while I do it.

I guess it depends on what you're targetting. Disenchanting rares acquired in Nightmare mode will be the only true and reliable method getting the quantites of mats you need and the occassional "super" rare will sell for a lot of gold on the AH. But I agree, if you didn't care about the mats or didn't care about finding legendaries (moreso after the pending patch) that GF is a more reliable source. Although I still get trolled by the "1G" on occassion.

Oh yeah I still occasionally find single-digit gold off mobs and objects (annoys the hell out of me lol) but generally on my doc I average 400+ gold a mob. Haven't really tracked it well enough for a good per-hour ratio but if I had to guess it's up around 80~100k if I make a real serious effort of it. The numbers can vary wildly of course due to a number of things but I get at least 1000 gold a minute on my doc barring any bullshit elite combinations like Molten + Waller, Jailer + Teleport etc etc.

Speaking of which, whoever the fuck approved outright invulnerability for minions can DIAF. That is by far the most epic load of shit I've ever seen. Immunities were bad enough in D2: LoD on Hell but now we can get mobs that are just outright invincible?! WTF BLIZZARD?!

A comment by Bashiok in a recent post suggests the devs think the invulnerable minions mod is unbalanced and plan to adjust it in some way.

I've gotta say I've been spending as much time playing auction house lately as I have been Diablo 3. Not even sniping and reselling, just valuing and monitoring the sales of my own drops. Not complaining as I am still enjoying it at this point, just saying. Inferno Butcher/resplendent runs are doable, fun and profitable, but eventually one does get tired of hearing their own death screams from horribly rolled elite packs, and it is still rather repetitive in spite of the runs being longer and more varied than D2 farming. I've made incremental updates to all my gear, but it seems like to make any really significant upgrades I need to be spending 5-10M per slot, which represents days and days of farming.

jump to post New Poster For anyone complaining about bnet or any site using your email as username....

                        Try gmail.

you can have an email account of blah@gmail.com (pulled out of thin air, bet it's someones. though)

for bnet. you can set your email to blah+bnet@gmail.com
So every email from bnet should go to blah+bnet@gmail.com
And your login username would be blah+bnet@gmail.com

When gmail gets an email for blah+bnet@gmail.com it forwards it to blah@gmail.com email account, while leaving the email sent to field as blah+bnet@gmail.com

After this, if you get a phishing email to blah@gmail.com you know it didn't come from bnet.

Furthermore take this many steps farther and every site you have an account with, set your email to blah+randomsite@gmail.com so you can easily filter all sites by you rincoming email address.

*cough* I use this on many sites, but I haven't tried with bnet, bnet may not allow + signs in email addresses. I've ran into a rare site that doesnt. So if it doesn't work with bnet. sorry. I'm feeling lazy and dont feel like testing me theory atm.

I don't know about the US but it's fairly easy for me to tell of an email I got from bnet is legit or not:

If I mouse over the link in my email and it's for the US bnet site it's a phishing link and the email gets nuked.

If I mouse the link in my email and it's for the EU bnet site, the e-mail still gets nuked and my computer scanned, and I log in to my bnet account on a separate and clean device just to be sure.

Of course all of this is pointless since hackers exploit the session ID issue I brought up a few threads back. Blizzard basically allow session IDs to exist for a very long time after you have logged out. Hackers not basically use packet sniffing tools to work out who has logged out and when and hijack the still ongoing session that exists even though you have logged out. Yes this is possible to do no matter what Blizzard says as they don't want a class action.

There IS an option in your bnet account that forces EVERY new login to enter an authenticator code regardless of if the session ID has expired or not. This does increase your account's security by quite a bit as even if someone manages to hijack your game session after you log out, it should still force the hacker to supply login info including the authenticator code on his/her/its end. it will NOT make you hack prof but it will give you a measure of protection against the current method of hacking battlenet accounts until Blizzard finally gets its shit together and plugs the massive security gap that retaining out of date session IDs is.

Only people I know that were hacked didn't have an authenticator. Oddly enough, all my friends that didn't have one got hacked. The ones that do, never hacked. Regardless of this session ID bullshit (?), it seems if you have an authenticator, from what I've noticed, you're generally OK.
