Re: DIABLO III - J9's thread of infernal enthusiasm!
Servers are restarting for the next two hours. Technically they're not "down" but the welcome message basically says they make no guarantees about being able to log in or maintain a connection during this time. Seriously guys, shouldn't you have your crap together by now?
Finished normal mode with Hayde yesterday. The quests, story and events of acts 3 and 4 are completely f*cking epic, but I found the bosses to be a bit of a let down. The first two act bosses both killed me at least once, but the last two we took down easily without even a close call. I'm going to try the last one solo later today and see how I fare without Hayde spamming stuns on it. Hopefully in nightmare and above the bosses will gain some resistance to our stuns and freezes, because while it was great for them to work it really made things a bit too easy. Nightmare act 1 has been a cakewalk so far, with everything having more hp and doing more damage, but still having the same lethargic AI. I'm a bit afraid of what act 2 is going to be like with its more aggressive monsters, though.
I have an overabundance of heroes. I have one I play with Hayde, another I play with a friend from Lakshmi, two others I play with RL friends, and then Malacite and two other RL friends are left hanging for co-op when they log on because I've got nothing synced up with them. It's the whole vertical progression problem from the MMO design thread. I expect that it'll stop being a problem at the end of the game where, like in MMOs, everyone's at the level cap and working on the same content, but it's annoying for the time being.
Re: DIABLO III - J9's thread of infernal enthusiasm!
I don't know if it counts as a form of irony but Gamestop do have an online UK presence and they are actually selling Diablo 3 for the cheapest price of any UK retailer.
That's £35 or $55 or €43 which is MUCH better than the usual prices for it.
Collector's Edition there is £64 which is €79 or $101 which is also a much more reasonable price for a new PC game.
Considering that I'm very happy to pay $55 (The usual price for a brand new PC game in the UK from Amazon or Steam) for a game that otherwise would have cost me $72 I should have the game on Monday (since I didn't pay for express delivery), unless Royal Mail actually shows some kind of competence for a change and delivers the game as soon as it's dispatched and it arrives on Saturday.
Re: DIABLO III - J9's thread of infernal enthusiasm!
J9... just come clean. You work for some kind of advertising firm and it's your job to hype games before release. There isn't another rational explanation for this otherwise. My mind is blown to pieces ATM and I'm trying to sort it out.
If you're not an ad-bot... what on God's green earth is wrong with you?
