Got to 15, finished Act I. BTW, Names are not unique--since you're tied to your Battletag/RealID thing. You can name yourself the same thing for all your characters if you desired.

The game costs £45 or $72 in the UK and Torchlight 2 is out soon.

So yeah I'm just thinking of saying fuck it and waiting for Torchlight right now.

Yes that price is for the digital version. I don't even want to LOOK at store prices.

As far as witch doctor names go, I'm torn between Negango and Motaba XD

Managed to get my Demon Hunter Alucard (can't believe that wasn't taken yet) up to level 7 and I'm looking for Leoric's crown atm. The god damned servers kept timing out so I didn't actually get on the game until nearly 4 a.m. About to get back on now.

If you're on NA servers, it's still down for another 1.5 hours :p Once again though regarding the name, you can have 4 Sephiroth's in your group (including yourself) and the system will have no problems with it. Similar to PSO (if you played that) your account and characters are tied to your Battle.net ID or BattleTag, so if there's a name you really want (some reference to a book, anime, movie, music, etc.) you can use it since the system is OK with reused names.

Torchlight 2 is gonna be like really cheap? $30? Not sure what you're trying to say here ... but you get what you pay for.

Anywho ... if you want my Battle Tag, just PM me ... I'm not about to get friend invites from RMT ...

Yeah considering T2 is like $20, out soon and has no problems created by a DRM - oh and made by folks that made Diablo II - it gets my vote.

BTW, Icemage, if that's the most egregious thing about Diablo III on the first day, then Blizzard has done a fine job. Constrast that with a bug in the Good King Moggle patch in FFXIV where one general leve took a whole server world down. I have encountered ZERO issues in the 4+ hours of play last night, other than the overcrowding on the log-in and server creation. That's pretty good considering most "new" games I would come across more than one bug in the first hour of play...

Pretty much this. I mean I love Blizzard's games, and I'll probably look at Diablo 3 again when the price drops. The equivalent of $72 for a PC game is just completely ridiculous. Not even EA had the gall to charge that much for the PC version of Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3 or SWTOR.

However, considering I can get the exact same game experience from Torchlight 2, a game made by the Diablo team and a game that is much cheaper doesn't have region segregated servers, has no DRM and doesn't have a game breaking but that makes the game completely unloadable...

I'm not saying that Diablo 3 is bad without ever playing it. I've been looking forward to the game for years and I do want to play it eventually. The pricing however, is a dealbreaker for me. Charging £45 for a brand new PC game? Not even console games are that expensive unless it's an EA game.

What about the people who bought the game but can't play it because of the DRM? That's not a problem?

I'm not following you ... if I bought the game, I should be able to play it. If I downloaded an illegal copy, I shouldn't be allowed to play it. It's that simple.

That's what he's saying. The people who bought the game should be able to play it. But they can't because the servers have been down for going on 7 hours total since launch so far. 90 minutes immediately after the servers came up, and from 10:22 am until 3:30 pm PST (projected) due to emergency maintenance.

This wouldn't be a problem if the developers didn't have their heads up their asses and didn't require a constant connection to their servers for offline play.

This. A one time online authentication is fine. Being completely unable to play offline singleplayer because the servers are down or you can't connect to the internet for whatever reason is something else.

ftfy. There's no such thing as offline play in Diablo 3. It's not just that you're connecting to battle.net for DRM verification and then hosting the game locally as with SC2 single player. All Diablo 3 games are hosted on battle.net servers and your local installation is strictly a client.

Well, they could've compromised, like they did in StarCraft II, so I'll concede that point. However, going beyond that, I am confused as to what the issue really is. The game just released and they have some major hiccups caused by irrational, impatient and illogical players whining their ass off about the limits of technology.
