If it's too profound to form into words, I think it's probably best that you stop trying.

Before now I could believe it was acting or affect, but that rant was a little too genuine.

So, putting J9's apparent overdose on meth+ecstasy aside, how are people feeling about the game now that most everyone's gotten the opportunity to play the beta?

I'm still not sure if I want to buy it. The fact that there is going to be no difference whatsoever between two characters of the same level and class other than the gear they're wearing is profoundly off-putting to me. More than half the fun of D2 to me was coming up with interesting builds to try out. I played several characters of each class up through hell difficulty and it was a completely different experience every time due to the strengths and weaknesses of the build I was using. In D3 it seems like I'm going to have to gimp myself by pretending I don't have access to all my skills to get the same replayability. And that is important. I played the heck out of Torchlight for 6-8 weeks and then got bored with it, which was totally fine for a $5 purchase. I played D2 for years. Before I drop $60 on D3, I want to know I'm going to be able to enjoy it for that long as well.

Oh I'm buying it without question.

It's never really been about the gameplay for me with Diablo (well, maybe back before I got into MMOs it was) but more the lore & the story. I own all the novels and the games and love the universe to death. Sales be damned, I feel like Diablo is their strongest IP from a purely creative standpoint. I dunno how much I'll invest into it after beating the game, but I did enjoy the beta enough to know I'm glad I pre-ordered. I don't like *everything* they've done with the game, but it's still solid enough and as I said, I'm addicted to the lore. I'm really curious to find out just what the Fallen Star is, why Diablo's back after having his damn Soulstone destroyed and why the Necromancers & Paladins have chosen to stay out of this fight.

Plus we're down to the final 2 of the 4 lesser evils.

I think players are given access to every skill because they can then go and modify each ability to their liking. It also seems that you can't use every single ability you have. You select one for the mouse buttons, and 4 for numbers 1 through 4, from their respective category of skills. I think you can change it on the fly, but it's not like every Barbarian will be running around dumping all their abilities into every single encounter. I'm no expert, though, because I only played a few of the classes only up to about level five.

Also, I thought the armors looked pretty cool. I was saddened that they pulled names for each one out of a hat. At random. Creativity, GO!

Even this video is a hint of what transcends many things!! It is a very delicate subject but I guess imagination in a sense is connected to the birth and foundations of reality and beyond!!

There's an FAQ up now on how the AH works:

How To - Services - Diablo III

              God damn it all though, I can't transfer funds to my paypal because I don't have a cell phone to enable the mandatory SMS feature @_@;

So much for making some cash off D3 on the side...

I was honestly not impressed at all. Will likely not be buying Diablo 3 unless a lot of things get fixed.

The lack of meaningful customization is probably the biggest problem I have with the game. Stats are auto-assigned on level-up. All skills are earned at the same rate, so your only customization options are Runes for each skill (which, while interesting, aren't usually uber-altering). More to the point, you can re-spec any time you want more or less, so there's zero reason to ever start a new character unless you play Hardcore and your character dies.

The last game I played that was like that was Kingdoms of Amalur, and while I like KoA quite a lot, and the respec function is interesting, I think I am offended by games that are so weak-livered that they aren't willing to force me to live with my decisions. So what if I chose to upgrade something weak and terrible and it never got better? I can always play through again and make better/different choices next time. Instead, once you get each class to a reasonable level, what else is there to do? Trying a new build consists of going into a menu and swapping a few settings. Yay?

Sacrificing replayability on the altar of being afraid that players might actually make BAD decisions is stupid.

Before we even talk about the game, I'm still curious on the subject of J9 herself. Seriously, she ever regret creating this persona of herself? Is she like this in real life? Does she wish she could be like this in the real life but is stuck in the Mewtant closet?

The cosplay is pretty rad. I like the lighting in the demon hunter shots.

The style of the cartoon is a little too campy, imo, and the idea of an archangel super sentai squad rubs me the wrong way, but I dig the lore anyhow.

I liked it. Reminded me a fair bit of the Dante's Inferfno animated shorts (is it the same guys?)

Now I'm curious though, gotta read up on that again as I don't remember quite what Diablo meant by the trap being sprung.
