Mhmm, started my barb yesterday and she's 24 now. Tried to play a little more earlier today but I was getting massive latency and no way in hell am I risking even just light farming with that 1500+ms of lag.

The EU servers are actually pretty fine. Servers are in France, and Western Europe and Scandinavia all have excellent infrastructure (except Spain who were too broke to invest in it). I've never gone above 100MS in any Blizzard game on the EU servers.

The US servers...For WoW I get a latency of 400MS on average. For D3 I get 700MS on average. For comparison on the NA servers on SWTOR I barely go above 140MS, same with LoL, Rift and Warhammer Online, and in FFXIV I rarely seem to top 100 even when the server is packed. For the EU servers for SWTOR i've never gone over 50MS unless there's some interference on my end.

Basically Blizzard are terrible in the US and their customer service in the US is even worse.

I haven't been having nearly the problems Mal has with latency. I think the blame lies less with Blizzard's servers and more the inconsistent US broadband infrastructure between individual customers and them. Obviously there are some server problems, but some people have tons of connection trouble and others have nearly none.

Mal is in Canada and if he's using Rogers, then that's where his problem lies

But seriously, Mal needs to get his wirings checked out. He's been getting all sorts of messed up disconnects and latency issues ... in FFXIV and other games as well.

Not as cool as selecting specific parts of people's posts and taking them personally while also making assumptions about someone you know nothing about makes you look.

Honestly I want to know where I've actually made a post that says I hate Blizzard even though it's pretty well known that I play WoW and Diablo 3 on these boards, though I suppose you would actually have to read my posts to know that and from the last few posts you have directed at me, it's pretty clear that you don;t do this. That said do admit to hating the fact that Diablo 3 uses an archaic and outdated control system better suited to a joystick than mouse and keyboard for the sake of nostalgia.

How any of that means I hate Blizzard is anyone's guess.

I like companies that have balls-to-the-wall shitty customer service, too.

In other news, I sort of feel the Witch Doctor may be a tad OP. I mean, maybe it's the early levels, but with Soul Harvest I literally double my DPS with one skill. Coupled with the fact a lot of the Witch Doctor's skills are AoE (well, the good ones. :p) I just tear things apart while my Gargantuan tanks. Seems so easymode compared to my Monk.

The constant complaint you've posted (not just in this thread) where you're always coming down hard on Blizzard. If it's not the games, it's the service. If it's not the service, it's other players IN THAT game. Also the thanks I've seen you given to those that have also expressed deep resentment towards the company. This is not the same as saying the game is "crappy".

You also have not ONCE noted your own personal experiences towards the company. You've only rehashed other people's experience and trust it entirely like they were pulled from the Bible (if you were a Christian) Yet, if someone says anything remotely negative about Steam, you're all over them like a hobo on a ham sandwich.

Yes I'm in Canada and yes I'm with bloody-thrice-damned Rogers.

I have a fairly solid connection though from them at 18MB down and 512KB up (though I wish that upload speed was at least 5 MB). My brother uses the internet a lot as well, particularly for torrents which I know eats bandwidth like crazy but even when I'm the only one on the network I get some fairly bs shenanigans. At this point I'm at a complete loss as to if it's just my location or my ISP or something else entirely. I use wired connections for everything so no worries about signal strength. I just wish I knew just what the fuck 'causes all the random DC's and poor hit detection for shooters. (Why am I the only one who has to drop 16+ bullets into a guy to kill 'em and everyone else only uses 5-6).

I've met lots of Canadian gamers through StarCraft II, WoW, FFXI and various online games and they've all had connection issues on Rogers service. I'm not sure if it's a hardware issue, their switching/routing network or the fact that data moving from one collection going into another, governed by different rules and regulations, causes this issue. Remember, anything having to do with internet is not nationalized in the US like it is in most other countries. Therefore, it is up to private industry, at their sole discretion, whether or not to upgrade aging infrastructure, expand existing fiber networks and provide "reliable" service to residential customers. AT&T is notoriously bad, but so is Cox, Cablevision, Time Warner, and the list goes on and on. I don't mean just their service to individual customers, but I mean the backbone they "control" where it connects to other backbones. I can assure you the majority of problems lie at relay points - the most vulnerable aspect of the whole system - and because our government has no control over these physical connections, it falls on two private parties who are almost always in dispute over "responsibility" of management and maintenance (i.e., $$$$$)

This is what happened back in 2005 with WoW where for a while, a lot of customers of one ISP was not able to connect to Blizzard's servers. Turned out that AT&T, who provided the logistical support and connections to the original bank of servers in Irvine for Blizzard was to blame for a faulty bank of switches that were "incompatible" with the aforementioned ISP. In this case, Blizzard was unfairly blamed, until the issue was discovered and resolved. Yet Blizzard went ahead to provide credit to these affected players. They didn't have to.

Our internet isn't nationalized, Rogers & Bell are private companies.

Though they may as well be given all the bullshit we have to put up with...

Also, staying off D3 for a bit; at least until they restore the damned commodities section. I'm beyond sick of not being able to buy gems and pages that I sorely need. ^^ plus BF3 premium service starts on June 4th so yayz! Curious about patch 1.22b for XIV as well.

I'll prolly hit up D3 again when 1.0.3 rolls out and they actually fix the crafting somewhat and update the damn in-game tool tips already!!! Seriously, why the hell is there absolutely no concrete description in-game while the website tells you exactly what each skill & rune does?

I've got tons of pages and gems sitting around in my stash. Hit me up.

Also, checking Advanced Tooltips in game options will turn on detailed skill information. I understand why they are off by default because not all 7 million players are likely to be core gamers and comfortable with being bombarded by numbers, but having them off by default with no tutorial reference to them creates its own problem. I had to explain to two different spellcaster friends this week that the reason they were having such a hard time is that their weapon damage was abysmal and they needed to upgrade. They had no idea their weapon damage would have anything to do with their spell strength. Why would it? It never has in the Diablo series to date, the default tooltips don't indicate there's a connection, and the animations don't involve the weapons. Same thing with elective mode. There are still retarded youtube commenters that think Force and Psy are hackers because they're using more then one skill from the same grouping. This is if not a basic then at most an intermediate feature of the game that should be explained in happy newbie tutorial time.

I've been farming inferno Leoric the past couple nights. Inferno elites do obviously have a higher tendency to spawn with brutal or unfair mod combinations, but act 1 inferno so far hasn't been too bad at all for a wizard. There's a necessity for good gear, but once you get nephalem valor collecting gold becomes a breeze, and highly decent gear can be acquired on the AH for 20-40k a pop. If you're quick and lucky you might even be able to pick something up at a fraction of its value from an ill-informed seller. Feels almost as good as finding it on the ground.

I've hit a wall at the caves of Aranae just like I did on hell diff, with the mobs just dealing and soaking too much damage to progress without major frustration and repair costs, thus dropping back to farm. Farming bosses in D3 is much more interesting than in D2, requiring 5 encounters with random elites to get the most out of the boss kill. I've been hitting the Cemetery of the Forsaken for 2-3 stacks of valor before taking the cathedral waypoint and hunting down Leoric. The trapped resplendent chest that sometimes spawns on the lower levels adds even more fun and loot.

---------- Post added at 01:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:24 PM ----------

Found this when looking for information on semi-reliable resplendent chests in act 1:

If you run due west from the spot where you meet the scoundrel, 60% of the time there is an event area that contains a resplendent chest. Couldn't incorporate this into a Leoric run since it's later in the act, but when I switch to doing Festering Woods > Butcher it could work. Pretty effective on its own if you have decent mf gear, it seems. Might try it later.
