    Not surprising.

Konami: " We want another Metal Gear Solid."
Kojima: "Sorry, but I killed Snake off, he was going to die after that story."
Konami: "That's fine, we can get someone else to do it."
Kojima: "Oh fuck no. Fine, I'll do it, but would it kill you to let me do something NOT Metal Gear for once?"
    Konami: "Yes, it would."

Thought I'd just throw this in as it does bear re-viewing:

Additionally, I do recall Peacewalker delving quite a bit into the history of The Boss prior to the events of Snake Eater. There's also her history with the Cobra Unit to consider as well and her mission to kill The Sorrow. All that history and still a lot of questions left unanswered there.

A lot of the stuff from MG, MG2, MGS and MGS2 got tied up neatly in MGS4, MGS3 being the game that helped tie it all together. While Peacewalker could also just be a bridge between MGS3 and MG, it does set up a conflict between Outer Heaven and The Patriots as well. Something brings Big Boss back to the US and Fox to found Fox-Hound.

I don't know how much of the Les Enfants Terrible project really has to be covered, everything regarding that seems to have been covered.

The conflict between Big Boss and Zero could use some fleshing out, but I find the idea of a game centered on The Boss to be more compelling as she's now the character that's essentially the centerpiece of the MGS saga. I also think its the game many fans want to see happen.

I'd rather they get the HD collection out first and see how that goes. The first ZOE wasn't that good and the second was better but not that great. Its something Konami needs to test the waters with on collections and perhaps portable entry before going all out again.

Plus there are other Kojima games in more dire need of addressing.

              You sir, need to DIAF.

ZoE was about the closest thing to a real fast-paced mech game I'd ever played. Armored Core has been catching up lately, but it still doesn't quite match up to just how frantic & responsive ZoE was.

And the people that make Armored Core have been doing other things lately, like making Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and 3D Dot Game Heroes.

At any rate, the rumors seem to indicate a 3DS game for ZOE to be on the drawing board, but not officially announced or confirmed yet.

Metal Gear Solid 5 is NOT confirmed ... yet -Destructoid

Oh, that Hideo Kojima! Everything he touches turns to Troll Dust, and the "announcement" of Metal Gear Solid 5 is no exception. It turns out Official PlayStation Magazine was a little bit liberal with its wording when it teased its MGS5 news, as Kojima didn't confirm anything ... yet.

Turns out that the mad genius said, "I think we’ll probably have to make it at some point, but what that will be, we have no idea," when talking about Metal Gear Solid 5. He went on to say that, whatever the future of Metal Gear Solid holds, he won't be as hands-on as he used to be.

"As far as my involvement in the project is concerned, [it] probably won’t be as much as it was with MGS1 --maybe I can do just one stage! For MGS1 I made the maps myself, laid out the enemy routes myself, did everything hands-on – that level I can’t do again."

Don't worry though, there's still some Kojima fun coming. He recently confirmed he was working on a game codenamed Project Ogre -- but we'll have to wait and find out what that's all about. Maybe it's Metal Gear Solid 5!

This is just Kojima being Kojima. Every time he's like "Oh, this is the last MSG I'll do".

Well, ya can't blame the guy for wanting creative control of his creations, really. MGS Rising is the first where he's not really written or designed anything. We'll have to see if its up to snuff. Its going to be different for sure, but the question remains how well it will fit and if other members of the studio can match the story of past games.

I'd say the Ac!d games and Portable Ops were a little iffy.

Damn it man... I haven't finished 4 yet. I know it's been out forever... but I managed to go this long without learning anything about the ending of 4. If this spoils it for me... I'm going to be one sad panda.

Only been about four years since it came out and I managed that long.

I avoided spoilers by not reading Metal Gear topics.

At any rate it's not as direct as I expressed it and there's a lot I didn't spoil. Let's just leave it at the end is rather open ended.

                              Re: MGS 5

If you're still catching up on MGS, I do advise at least checking out Peacewalker or Portable Ops. Preferably Peacewalker as its the better of the two and recently re-released in the MGS HD Collection for play on consoles. Without playing either of the two there's some "WTF is all this about" stuff as you get into the final parts of MGS4

Playing both isn't mandatory, in fact, Peacewalker covers the spread for both and its the better of the two anyway. At the time of release, Portable Ops was supposed to carry the plot points MGS4 later touched on along with MGS3, but given Peacewalker was handled by Kojima it feels a bit more canon than PO did.

Plus, the HD collection is worth it just for a prettier version of MGS3 by itself. Peacewalker builds on MGS3 and serves as a good bridge to the original Metal Gear. Plus its more Big Boss action.
