PETA attacks Mario for wearing "fur"; Nintendo responds
Re: PETA attacks Mario for wearing "fur"; Nintendo responds
I said it before, I'll say it again....
Reading the "Teaching its Ok to wear fur" part just made me LOL. What are we going to do with the rest of the animal after its been eaten? Throw it away?...
Would they just rather us throw away the rest of the animal, such as the bones, and fur, and so on, rather than use the rest of it?

I'm pretty sure they'd rather we didn't kill the animal in the first place. For any purpose.

That is true...
but, there are people out there, who would rather eat meat, than just vegetables, and fish, grains, and nuts.
I'd much rather see an animal go to full use, rather than just have the meat eaten, and the rest thrown away, such as what the indians did. They didn't let a single piece go to waste.

From the other thread; also in response to BBQ in that thread, when I said "the 'truth' strategy", I wasn't talking about literal truth, I was talking about the truth anti-smoking campaign of a few years back. They were all about doing ridiculous shit for the sake of attention; they pull you in with that, and then once they get you talking about it, going to their website, etc., they've done their job.
Also, what furry animals are you people eating? I don't see a lot of furry goddamn cows out there.
Re: PETA attacks Mario for wearing "fur"; Nintendo responds
I don't remember the 'truth' campaign making such ridiculous leaps of logic. (That's not to say they didn't, but I can't recall.) They were also drawing attention to an issue that's generally accepted (tobacco is bad for you), which makes PETA look all the more ridiculous to me since people can and will debate whether we should give a fuck about animals. I'm not really sure their circus acts and crazy rhetoric do anything to educate people even if it draws attention to the issue.
EDIT: While we're at it, 'truth' only besmirches the name of tobacco companies, which is actually the people they're targeting, and they don't have a good rep to begin with. Nintendo has nothing to do with what PETA's supposed to be crusading for.
What you want to do to those animals is not better.
I lol'd.

And since this is the same topic I'll just move my post here.

Yeah, using something like that to draw attention to "the real issue" sounds farfetched at best. Not to mention the nonsense of it all would undermine the original idea so much it would actually trivialize the matter rather than bringing serious attention to it.
End result: I'm am now more likely to kill and skin a raccoon to wear it's fur than I ever was before.
PS > I wonder how many raccoon hides will I need for a square of leather and some leather straps.
