Just when I thought they couldn't piss me off any more with Heroes Might & Magic VI, I get this shit in the mail.

I got an e-mail saying my digital copy is ready, so I figured ok, I'll use the back-up DVD I ordered at an extra $7 + tax (bastards) as the download is quite large.


Well, turns out the dumb asses instead mailed be a back-up DVD FOR THE FUCKING BETA!

... words can not express my fury. So, on top of basically getting screwed out of $70 in total because their pre-order system forces you pay the full amount up front (I wanted to get it at EB/Gamestop but apparently not one location in Ottawa received the beta keys for people pre-ordering the game, which pissed off quite a lot of people around here myself included) I now have a useless $7 DVD.

Oh yeah, naturally the artbook, poster & sound tracks are all digital only too.


Fuck you Ubisoft. Never buying anything from you assholes again.

Why didn't you buy it off Steam? The deluxe edition is like 50 bucks. Unless you have download restrictions or something lame like that.




I don't remember when was the last time I bought an Ubisoft game though. And don't like M&M much either.

I just like the Heroes series, the rest of M&M I don't care for.

And I got it directly off their store. I bought the expansions for V off there as well previously and never had issues, but lately the company's just pissing me off.

Yes, the game was $54.99 there too - but you add on the back-up DVD + taxes (13% HST - Harmonized Sales Tax - for Ontario) and it comes to about $70. Oh yeah, plus the CND -> USD exchange rate...

Yeah, the USD is 25% higher here due to market instability. I may not buy those couple HD6950s I wanted to upgrade to until the dollar is down again (if it ever goes down.)

So .. I don't really understand. Did you mail them a blank DVD for them to burn the game for you? Because a system like that is just asking to fail.

Actually, it's to make calculating tax easier for people. (among other things)

...or you could just call Ubisoft and tell ask them to send you a proper backup DVD for the retail game, as you expected when you purchased it. You know, instead of coming on a forum that no one from Ubisoft reads or cares about and nerdraging.

Seriously, Mal, there's a right way and a wrong way to go about boycotting. This isn't the right way.

P.S. I also believe Mal will buy another Ubisoft game at some point.

First thing I did was contact their Customer Service. I still hate them and won't buy a damn thing from them ever again. Hopefully a better publisher will pick up the Heroes license but that's unlikely (and a better developer - I hate what they've done to the skills system and especially the Necromancer faction)

I like some of their franchises (Heroes, AC) but I really don't appreciate getting screwed like this with my money. If they'd just sent the damn beta keys for pre-orders to the EB's in my area, all would have been fine but no...

And I'm aware there was a free demo, but the demo had even less content than the beta did - a LOT less.
