Don't forget, they did announce a FFX remake for FF's 25th anniversary. Yeah, I'm not sure why they chose that one either; I mean it's a great game, but an X remake is not as necessary as a VI, VII, VIII or IX remake.

people who don't want to either say nothing because they realize they don't really know what it's like, or they bitch endlessly about it, because different = bad for some undefined reason.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. This time, I'll say it differently and in the form of a question.

If you were someone that played a good four to six years of FFXI and lived for the updates, obsessed over gear, party mechanics/etiquette, job/subjob dynamics and the like and later quit - don't you think you'd be perfectly capable of browsing a wiki, reading the information and taking what you knew about the game and how people played it to form a conclusion of how it plays now?

And wouldn't you be able to feel you knew whether you liked it or not?

I dpn't need to step inside Abyssea to know who diminished job uniqueness has become, how the entire game has become about Abyssea and how little thought and effort SE puts into job updates now. I'm still rolling my eyes at all the "poor me" RDMs and SMNs. They haven't changed.

As much as I grew to hate BRD, I feel kind of sorry for them now that COR has outstripped them a bit too much. Not that they're left in the dust, they're still BRDs and in-demand. I guess its just want WHMs used to feel like around RDM. And I'm pretty sure the CORs that take pride in melee builds are still relatively few as the rest play monkey see/monkey do based off what the JP CORs do.

The momentum SE had with RNG fixes is clearly gone. THF still gets updates that seem to offer them anything but damage capability. SAM gets more and more awesome ways to conserve TP and spam weapons skills Same for SCH, just in terms of being a mage.

And where things fall behind, it seems they just outright steal from other jobs now to patch flaws. BLM is getting SCH stuff, just renamed and RNG is getting enmity-reducing abilities for ... some reason I just don't understand.

Most of the time when a RNG pulls hate -as with any other melee - it means something is dead already and it just lagged and took a swipe at the RNG in its death throes. If anything, its amusing that the other allience/party melees bothered to chase after it.

So I guess SE is patching to reduce RNG killstealing and soothing the egos of other melees, just without breaking RNG this time.

You are so completely out of touch with the game it's baffling.
BRD beats the pants off of COR for just about everything. Double Marches are still king for damage, while Carols and Sentinel's Scherzo are fantastic for defense. What's Corsair got? Chaos Roll and Tactician's Roll? Magus's Roll and Ninja Roll?
Yeah, I'm sure Wildfire totally makes everything ok while the mob wipes the floor with the rest of your party.

Well, I don't want to be totally unfair here, I can put some stock in Malacite and Mhurron's experience,. At any rate what they'd give me is better than the "You don't know because you don't play anymore" rubbish you dole out.

Stop acting like you're part of something difficult to understand. You're talking to someone that played FFXI on a totally different level from you. And I'm not saying that in the elitist sense, just as someone that finds fun in different things from you.

@Cid - you're basing your perception of BRD and COR from a very dated place, too. I'm coming from the end of 2009 and you're in somewhere over in TOA.

Bards are more plentiful and have double arch, so they're perceived as better? Well, golly gee, that's a bit change.

OK, not really.

I'm kind of basing where I stand on from which job offers more to any kind of party and I've seem more variety as COR and SCH than any other job in the game.

I'd bet CORs are still scarce, so its still hard for people to "know" COR when they seldom party with one or their linkshells or short on them. Its kind of an expensive job and some of the dice can be hard to get on some servers due to ToA's conquest style.

Also, the closest I'd come to a melee sub in endgame is DNC and that's really only if we're micromanaging in small groups in some big event. If its something I shouldn't TP, I'll have a sub that reflects that strategy because that is what common sense dictates.

My disrespect for COR/WHM comes from those that party exclusively with it, as it limits people's ideas as to what can be done with the job. I have no problem with the ones that do endgame content with it. Big diff.

Its cute you think I march into endgame with melee subs ready to weaponskill and melee JA my heart out, though.
