That's a laugh. He's funny but he sure as sh!t doesn't move software. Compared to the marketing goliath that is M$, Sony seems to be floundering in my region when it comes to promoting games and especially their exclusives. I see nothing about Sony when I (admittedly very rarely) watch TV. On a recent note, I've seen absolutely nothing regarding Resistence III. I've been actually going out of my way to see a commercial for the HD relaunch of SotC/Ico... nothing. Not that they are selling that to me through the commercials. I'm buying SotC/Ico guaranteed. When I've seen commercials for multiplat things it always pushes the M4 aspect. I just see nothing from Sony except every now and then those Kevin Butler commercials and they don't really highlight anything that sells Sony's products, imo. Even those are few and far between.

I'm still on the fence to whether I'll throw in to FFxiv when it launches for PS3. Personally and selfishly I wish it would have remained what it was rumoured to be. An HD update to FFxi... like a FFxi-2. Keep the original content and expand the universe to include another parallel realm. Alternate realities abound in the series... why not have a game w/in a game and update content that is amazingly still relevant after what? 10-11 years?

But with SE's branding issues... Yeah I'd have to agree with the oversaturation of FF opinion. It's everywhere... over and over and over sometimes. All I know is that SE and the FF series ain't going away anytime soon no matter what they do. Too many people/media still support them for SE to fail.

If they had the money SE could simply port XI to XIV's engine and make Eorzea another part of Vana. Just like Aht Urgan.

But they don't have the money, time or will to do something as awesome as that. So it's only chocobos and Abyssea-ish weapons from Ifrit for now.

I never said it would be that easy. They would have had to start that ages ago. I'm only saying that I think upgrading FFxi and expanding the world is what I think would have been the wisest choice. Now they just have a shiny golden turd.

Many people actually like the fact that FFxi has been shifting to be a more accessible game. Sorry this change was a personal affront to you that all your torturous nights/days playing a game were made irrelevant. It's called change. Adapt or do not.

I still don't understand your freakish obsession with FFXI HD. HD graphics is the last thing FFXI needs.

Also, this. Even in spite of how many orders of magnitude more pretty FFXIV is, FFXI still holds its own very freaking well for a 10-year-old game. I think there are several fundamental gameplay problems that take priority over simply making it prettier.

FFXIV just happened to take that trait about FFXI, and comically exaggerate it.

Let's totally ignore the fact that this is nearly a 10-year-old game and 99.99% of anybody who'd be interested in playing it has at least tried it and already formed their impressions by now (and probably still have them, even if they were formed long ago). Not like that could be a relevant variable at all or anything . . .

Meanwhile, people who left at or around the WOTG storyline have been pouring back in droves, and loving the new way of doing things. And people who don't want to either say nothing because they realize they don't really know what it's like, or they bitch endlessly about it, because different = bad for some undefined reason.

I still don't think 14 is as bad as people make it out to be. I freaking creamed my pants over the Ifrit stuff and the new synthesis changes they just listed - it's about god damned time they adjusted the recipes. Now I'll actually be able to properly equip my Archer, and not drop a fortune on materials (in particular fire crystals and wind shards) for leveling BSM.


Honestly, after the shithole that XI has become, I'm ready to switch over to XIV. I just hope they do the job system right.

And I guess I shouldn't call XI a shit hole - it's just there's nothing left to keep me interested in it anymore after so long, and the latest update was just so lackluster. But then that's what you get after 3 high-octane battle add ons. It's a huge letdown coming off of Abyssea (and as I stated in other posts, the shitacular level 95 relics were the nail in the coffin.)


SAM's becoming too JA heavy as well...


Anyhoo, I will close with this: Dear SE, get off your lazy asses and upload the SaGa Frontier games to the PSN already for the love of Christ.
