Its all really just getting started right now, but Sony mentioned that the were looking into a UMD issue for PS Vita. Its early, so I'm posting this half-grumpy from getting out of bed. Someone's carpool buddy just HAD to honk their horn in front of my apartment.
Yeah, we've heard that one before. I'm sure the same guy that was on the case for that on one with PSP Go is really working hard to make that one not happen again.
Otherwise it was a kind of boring presentation where PS Vita was taken through the paces of the startup screen and some of the web-browsing features and the packed-in mini games. The browser looks awesome, though, way better than PSP's was. Seems a bit more capable than the 3DS browser as well, though I didn't see whether or not it supported flash, which has remained a sticking point for both Nintendo and Sony browsers so far.
Also, nothing about the battery life on Vita. Pretty much a sign we can expect something on par with the 3DS now, I guess. Funny how these days talking about battery life is such a low priority for both Sony and Nintendo.
I do plan to pick up a Vita at launch in the US and I'm stocking up the downloadable PSN titles, but the whole 3G aspect of it is laughable to me. I'll just go get my portable 4G/Wi-Fi capable router and enjoy 4G for any of my portable devices. Bad enough cell phone carriers hose you with their data plans for one phone, I'm not playing for 3G just for Vita, either.
On to news that makes me kind of happy, Vita's getting Ultimate MVC3 at launch... but it is its own retail entry, it seems, and not a spiffy PS3/Vita deal. But yeah, Mr. Ono likes putting fighting games on the handhelds.
SE seems to be following the "transfarring" idea for HD re-releases. FFX is going to be remastered for PS3 and will have Vita compatibility. It does seem, however, SE is doing these as a stand-alone remaster and not collections like MGS or ZOE collection. So if you wanted FFX-2 and FFXII with that, tough luck.
Seems stingy to me but if they go and rerecord the Luca scene and about 50% of Yuna's lines, I might be inclined to forgive the greedy bastardness of this non-collection-that-should-be-a-collection-with-FFX-2-and-FFXII-in-it.
