  • Pandaria? (WoW's new X-Pac)

Here is a link to a rumored X-Pac for WoW. I have heard that multiple threads with this has come up on the WoW official forums, and they all have been deleted, along with Temp Banns for people posting this stuff.

Wow, that's a lot of information to have leaked. Shame, though, that they can't fix what's wrong with the game with more expansions.

Since I have never played WoW, for a game w/11 mil subscribers, what is wrong?

Lack of choice. Maybe I'm spoiled, but, for a game that offers no plot or story, game-play is unbearably linear. You pick a class, and how you play the game is set in stone. Your strengths and weaknesses are unchangeable. You do get to decide from which quest hubs you complete tasks, but that's about it. What armor you wear, your role, your spells and abilities as well as how you use them, are all the same for the rest of the game. For such a game, I think it wouldn't be surprising for people to finally tire of it. But, I'm sure it's hard to beat the addiction.

This "lack of choice" is what, I would bet, makes the game appealing to that particular player base. Everything you need is handed to you via quests so you can keep going to your next destination. Compare that to FFXI and I think you can see why some people will appreciate that.

There's nothing "wrong" with that approach (and some 11 million people seem to like it). If you've never played it, and are curious, I say try it out. Their trial is now unlimited (but locked to lvl 20).

          Thanks Yyg!

I would be wary of the free trial though. Because... When you first play it, you will get addicted to it.

              That's the idea.

You can play as the Naga now? What?

I'm sorry, but add more classes. Not more races.

They can't properly balance the classes they have now. Adding more would be trouble.

IIRC Blizzard did once mention trying to get into a Facebook game or mobile game market. It wouldn't surprise me if "Pandaria" was fr that rather than a WoW expansion, especially given how recently Cataclysm came out.

EDIT: Read over the document and it's face. Inconsistent spelling, lore shattering class combinations (Undead Paladins, Night Elf Warlocks and Blood Elf Druids), really feeble excuse about the very popular Demonhunter class (seriously, not every single class/spec combination is suitable for Arena because of team makeup), names of major characters and zones spelled incorrectly, hinting that the Undead, a major player faction for the Horde and a faction that are incredibly popular, are on their way out. Oh and Naga allying with anyone not called the Blood Elves.

That and "Blizzard" saying they're finally giving Blood Elves some love made me laugh. They've had nothing happen for them in any sort of game event or expansion since Burning Crusade. What is amusing is that not one Blood Elf NPC is even aware of the events of Lich King and Cataclysm, that is how badly Blizzard have neglected them. I'm not bitter because I play a Blood Elf, honest >.>

Didn't you just sum up every MMO and just about every RPG out there? Wow never did or never will change how MMOs are played but still...
