    When you get a new quest it will appear on your log but it wont track it until you select it.

    After you do it will show a marker on your map and on the NPC.

    PS > I used Warmaiden's in Whiterun as my smithing base. You have everything you need there and it's pretty close to your house in case you go above the weight limit for some reason.

    I found the firebolt and fireball spell last nigh at the college. So, woot! I verified I had impack, so i should be good. I also fired off a dual wield firebolt and i like it! It takes a good chunk of mp (35% ish), but if ti staggers an enemy, i should be good. i tried dual wielding fireball, but I dont have enough mana, lol... is thate even do-able? if so, that should be pretty bad ass. One thing i find tough about the game is that you are given quests/missions, and you're told tog o talk to so-and-so. How the F am I supposed to know where they are??? So it's alot of meandering around until I stumble across them. I'm still trying to finish up the college quests. I brought back the books that were missing, went and talked ot Olfdir, or something like that, now I think they're asking me to go talk to someone else, but... yeah, could't find them late last night...

    I have saved up a bunch of animal skins now for smithing, but havent seen a blacksmithing area reacently. Where's a good one to goto?

    Those dragon mages are pretty tough. I'm currently trying to find more of them. I've killed about 4 or 5 so far and yeah they always bring on the challenge.

    One thing I love about Skyrim is the ecology. I've found so many NPC's killing each other and it's always fun to watch the battle ensue. Bears chasing deer and rabbits. Hunters slaugtering a grove of animals. Giants defending their mammoths from god knows what. The best and strangest for me was coming across two dragons fighting over a giant camp. I helped kill one dragon... got the kill shot then watched the winning dragon kill the giant and by that time that dragon was ready to fight me it was down to basically nothing. 2 souls for the price of watching a prize fight.

    I didn't get the kill-shot with sneak attack, but yeah I did win the fight after all the minions had died. I ended up finding a patch of rocks on a hill to hide behind at the very end. The dragon was all bloody and rambling around down below and I just kept firing iron arrows at it and hunkering down behind the rocks when it started breathing fire at me.

    Now I'm afraid to go back to get the word of power because I know the dragon priest will still be there, and those guys are just terrifying. Dragons I can deal with, super mages are a different matter.

    I saw one of those dragon symbols on my compass and just wandered toward it. Found the little shrine/wall thing with a dragon perched on top. I was far enough away that he didn't aggro right away so I managed to snipe him to open the fight. Then the dragon priest showed up and things got pretty hairy. I ran as fast as my fuzzy little legs could carry me. I lost the priest, but the dragon was more persistent. Random aggro along the way turned into minions to fight the dragon for me and with enough distractions I actually managed to get hidden again to sneak attack him again. Running away is totally a valid strategy.
    If you managed to get the kill-shot/dragon soul, this would probably be the most awesome dragon-kill story I have heard of out of this game yet.

    Also fun: sneaking into a fort and slitting the throats of just about every mage on sentry duty. That one-shot animation is so satisfying when you can actually pull it off. Even better was when I was exploring...Snap-leg Cavern I think it was? Anyway, some cave that had some witches in it. There was one room where there were two witches pretty much right next to each other aside from the animal skin wall/divider/thingy between them. I managed to sneak up on one and take her out in one shot. The other witch must have been less than five feet away and didn't bat an eye. Seriously I was hidden the entire time. Pretty damn awesome.

    I'm still pretty terrible in a fair fight at the moment, even with my shield I'm begrudgingly keeping around for botched operations.

    Almost 300 hours later I'm still 44. <_<;

    Though I spend 70% of my game time just running/riding through Skyrim since I very rarely use Fast Travel. Even after all this time it just feels like a waste to use it, or the taxis for that matter.

    If I restarted... I'd definitely put perks into crafting earlier so that I'd now have all I need for crafting epic gear and every perk I'd get now would be able to make combat easier at high lvls. At this point, I'm going for a everything character. Going to end up spamming skill ups more than likely... Blocking, Light/Heavy armor, all schools of magic, alchemy... anything and everything so I can get the last two Enchanting % ups + Daedric smithing then just sink em all in combat/armor. Kinda want Treasure Hunter but I think after I'm able to craft epically, it would be obsolete. It'd also be nice to get some perks in Speechcraft too... oy... decisions are hard at this lvl.

    Nice! I think I'm going to concentrate on the destruction / restorative / light armor / enchanting paths. They seem like the most conducive paths for a dual wielding mage.

    I find Flames better than the upper fire spells as well. I just like opening my hand and BBQ'n my foes. Seems easier to skillup using it as well... but that might be in my head. I haven't done any duel wielding damaging magics. But I do like to couple flames with healing. I'm more of a stealth fighter. I kind of use what the guild I'm working on would use. I did the Mage college quests with about 90% magic. Thief Guild I used mostly sniping and sneak attacks. Been using the sword and board lately now that I'm doing the War and main questlines. I haven't even found the Dark Brotherhood questline yet. I like to save them for last then I usually end up with some kind of context for their assassinations.

    I just got the ability to make Dragon Armor (light armor path) and man the Legendary upgrade is pretty insane. I need two more perks to maximize my enchanting still but I made some pretty awesome boots (one hand dmg/stamina regen). It really sucks being lvl 51 and wanting crafting perks. I really want to make Daedric too. Yet I'm getting my ass handed to me by certain foes at this level. I'm trying to get a Forsworn's heart and the guy I'm directed to kill duel wieds axes and kills me with one blow... I may need to try a less direct strategy, lol.

    Khajiits FTW!!!

    You get Firebolt from most vendors.

    Firebolt is relatively more powerful, but Flames is more Magika/Damage rate efficient. So in open areas firebolt and rune traps are easier for me to use from a distance and then fall back to flames when enemies are closer. That also helps me with magicka management.

    And in closed spaces I just use Flames, Sparks or Frostbite depending on the type of mob I'm fighting. For tougher mage mobs I tend to favor Sparks because it also damages their Magicka. Although I've yet to level destruction magic much, so I haven't used the stronger spells like Fireball yet. <_<;

    Buy it off the Jarl's wizard in Whiterun, or from one of the senior mages at the college(I think it's the high-elf).
