  • Re: Elder Scrolls SKYRIM

    I hid behind some obstacles that apparently block spells really well at the end of the Azura's Star quest pre-patch, so that's probably still doable.

    I was wondering why the Blood Dragons were so extra nasty now. I horde health potions like crazy, so I still manage to get through it.

    The stuttering/file size issue hasn't gone away entirely on PS3, its just when it resurfaces its somewhat worse than before.

      People are reporting that player characters, companions, summons, and enemies are all affected. This makes some missions virtually impossible to complete (I'm looking at you, Azura's Star). On the plus side, dragons now kill you DEAD because you can't resist their breath attacks, which is at least more fitting. Too bad they attack frequently and you can't really run away from them.

      No word yet on whether the 360 and PC versions are similarly impacted since those aren't out yet, but it wouldn't surprise me.

        It's probably because I've played Bethesda's games from the modder perspective (and on a PC) that none of these problems really hit me.

        The 2GB issues is annoying and all but can be solved with the 4GB launcher that you can find in the Nexus, although I'd probably wait for the update to it after the newest patch.

        The resistances can be easily modded back into shape, and the little improvements you can download are pretty noticeable so...

        If anything I'd say Bethesda's biggest fault right now is the lack of a GECK.

            EDIT: Gah, forum software is eating my URL like it's the dinner buffet at Caesar's Palace. Something weird with Escapist site and this forum, so click the link for Skyrim after following the link.

              I didn't pay attention to what version of the game he was playing, but I'm assuming PS3.

              Either way I'm trying to cut down on Skyrim play hours because playing from the moment I got home till 3 or 4 am was starting to take a toll. <_<;

We’re simply blown away by the response, from new and old fans, and amazed by the sheer number of people playing the game. It’s been absolutely fantastic hearing your stories, seeing early mods, and watching fan videos (more live music ones please, we love those).

                We want to thank everyone reading this for playing our game and supporting all it tries to do. We wouldn’t have this success without you, and we want you to know we’re committed to making your Skyrim experience even better. And not just in the short term, but over the life of the game. Here’s a quick peek at what we’re working on right now:

                Creation Kit  — Beginning in January, PC players will be able to download for free the same development tools we used at Bethesda Game Studios to create Skyrim. In tandem with the Creation Kit’s release, we will roll out a new Wiki and videos to help you get started. It also features something we think you’re going to love…

                Steam Workshop – We’re excited to share news that we’ve been working closely with Valve to integrate Steam Workshop into the Creation Kit. Using the Workshop, you’ll have free user content with the push of a button. The Creation Kit will bundle your mod and upload it to the Workshop, where everyone can browse, rate, and flag mods for download. You’ll be able to do this from any web device, including your smartphone. Like a live Netflix queue, when you fire up Skyrim, mods you flagged will be automatically downloaded and installed. Everyone here is really excited about the opportunities and possibilities this opens up for our entire community.

                Prefer to use existing modding sites? Not a problem. You’ll still be able to upload/share/access Skyrim mods on fan-created mod sites.

                Continued Game Updates – This week we released update 1.2 across all platforms, and we’ll be releasing an incremental update next week. We anticipate it will be up on PC first, and then hit PS3 and Xbox 360 later in the week. Among other things, the update will fix issues like magic resistance not calculating properly and the rare, amazing backwards flying dragon. Once the update is released, we’ll share the full release notes.

                After the holidays, we’ll continue to release regular updates for the game — through full title updates, as well as incremental “gameplay updates” to fix whatever issues come up along with rebalancing portions of the game for difficulty or exploits. We plan on having a lot of these, not just a few. Overall, you should expect updates to be hitting the PC and Steam earlier and more often, as that’s a process we control. Console updates will follow, as they must be certified and processed by those manufacturers.

                We all know this is a huge game, and everyone has a different experience. We’ll continue to do everything we can to make the game better and better for as many people as possible every day. We’ve also realized that with the millions upon millions of people playing Skyrim, we need to treat our updates with greater care. If we get too aggressive trying to fix a minor issue, we run a risk of breaking something larger in a game like this. To be safe, we are prioritizing code side fixes right now over data fixes. Quest and balance issues are usually data, and those will start rolling in a large way with the January updates.

                Thanks again for your continued support and patience. We truly have the best fans in the world, and we couldn’t do it without you.

                Also, this came up on Youtube recently, its apparently one of the bard songs that eventually comes up in the game when you bother to do the main story, which I haven't attended to in three weeks, but its a lovely cover of a song I haven't heard yet.

                  Don't worry, you aren't missing anything at all by not hearing the song in game. One of the reasons being that the song is always a cappella when sang by bards, another being that this girl has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better voice than all of them put together. <_<;

                  So yeah, after the GECK is out in Jan. you can expect tons of mod replacements with animations and all for the bard song in game.

                      A couple are supposed to (like that girl whose mom was a great bard but she sings awful herself), but having all of them being so was going too far. <_<;

                        Some bards, like the one in Whiterun are surprisingly good. Then there are a number who are deliberately bad for a laugh.

                        Reminds me of the poor old pub singers you see in pubs that have live music on weekends here in the UK. Some are surprisingly good, some are as awful as you would expect.

                          At Elderblood Peak I have a moonwalking dragon stuck in the sky. I tried killing him once, but he refused to stop flying post-mortem and the game started stuttering, likely trying to figure out how to land it, drop the goods and give me his soul.

                          Radiant AI can do some awesomely dynamic things, but then there's this stuff. Aela has knocked around my Diabella statue so many times from her side of the bed I find it in the kitchen when I come back. I just finally put it onto one of the shelves. Also wish they made it easier to manipulate the things you put up.... like corpses.

                          I'm now in the Dark Brotherhood, Siithis be praised! I like my Awesome Gloves of Backstabbing, if you have the x15 dagger damage perk, it doubles the damage to 30. I skill up one-handed by sneaking up on people now.

                            I didn't play Amnesia for long *coughchickenedoutandputitonholdcough* but the little item manipulation I saw there was nice.

                            Being able to adjust distance of the object you are holding and stuff was pretty useful. I wonder if we'll have the ability to make an item interaction mod like that once the (GE)CK is released.

                              Possible, but I'd have to have a better PC and rebuy the game to find out as I'm on the PS3 version. Hopefully some of the best mods become optional add-on content for consoles. Given its Steam integration, Creation could easily give way to a TF2-like sale of certain, more robust mods.

                              Though I doubt it will happen.

                              Now, if you'll excuse me I'm going to hunt foxes, murder a few bandits and marry whoever I please because Skyrim has told me that murder is OK so long as I don't get caught and that everyone is inherently bisexual with low standards.

                              I like the part where Blizzard made it.

                              Mercer Fray and a lusty Argonian maid have signed on in support.

                                So... They allowed MW2, where you play a mission where you slaughter thousands of innocents in an air port, yet playing a fantasy game where NONE OF IT IS REAL, will get banned, which isn't even near half as bad?

                                Hmmmm.... What do people think...

                                Oh, and don't forget The Fable games if you want to bann Skyrim. Oh wait... I can think of an even worse game... Grand Theft Auto.... So ummm... Before you go and start trying to ban a game that isn't as bad as those, think of the others first that they think should be banned.

                                Its not the game that changes the person, its the persons mentality. If they are going to do it, they where going to try from the start anyways. -Shrugs.-
