      Pre-Skyward Sword I was at level 27 and still haven't done much of the main quest yet.

      I have a lot of shouts now, though. I had recently encountered some kind of headless horseman. Must be a quest for that somewhere since I couldn't do anything but watch and follow him around. Couldn't even shoot him.

      I have a 1k bounty with the Empire now. I came upon some Elves that were hauling off a Nord for worshipping Talos and I didn't think that was fair so I took them out. Plus they said something about how elves were better than everyone. After that I got to a part of the story where the conflict between the Stormcloak and Imperials seems like one big gray area given it was the Empire's defeat that forced them to renounce Talos. Seems the Elves are the real problem.

      It is nice to walk around a bunch of cities with that bounth and the guards, almost always Nords, don't give a damn about it. Its like I'm the Irishman from Braveheart. He's OK so long as he kills the English/Elves.

      Also, its MY ISLAND!

      Back to Skyward Sword. 27 was a good stopping point for a break from Skyrim anyway.

        Am I the only one who enjoys slaughtering Thalmor and Stormcloaks en-mass? Skyrim has shown that killing Nazis is varying degrees of creativity and cruelty is still fun even if they're fantasy elf/viking nazis.

            Explore Morrowind and Cyrodiil... in Skyrim -Destructoid

            Holy crap.

            Some PC player was tooling around and using his knowledge of TES geography and made quite a find. by breaking through some invisible walls, it was found the world of skyrim has the landmasses of Morrowind and Cyrodill there in their entirety. There's no detail to them and no NPCs for now, suggesting future expansions might entail the inclusion of 4th Age versions of those areas.

            Quite a find and quite a surprise that they might be considering expansions on such a scale, but I guess since the framework of the geography is already done with the previous two games all they'd have to do is visually update them in context to the Skyrim engine and the change of times and story.

            Someone go gut punch Todd Howard til he spills the beans

            Here's a video of the map hack

            There is part of the the Imperial City rendered in the map, which is also interesting.

              I actually thought about TCL'ing my way beyond the borders eventually, but never got to it. Good to know there's actually something there to see.

              As a side note I'm on my way to becoming Dovahking of sidetracking.

              Every time I'm all set to get a quest done there's always a cave or a dungeon or some ruins I bump into and that I spend the next few hours exploring. Which means I never actually make it to my original destination before having to go to sleep again.

              Did I mention I don't use Fast Travel? <_<;

              Let me guess. A Stormcloak and his Thalmor friend stole your sweet roll.

                  If it works as always you'll probably need to advance the main story for the stronger spells to appear.

                  PS > And yep I'm still using the same newbie spells, but since I haven't visited the school of magic I don't know if they have any additional spells.

                    Yeah, that makes sense. What level are you Ray? On another note, you had said you were doing alot of alchemy. Where are you getting the recipes from? I gathered some stuff, flowers and such, but havent come across any recieps in game.

                      There are a TON of ingredients you have to taste (yep taste) to see what effects they have and guesstimate what the end result will be when combined with other things. There's also the option of seeing Skyrim recipes on the wiki to get some hints (although I'm not doing that right now.)

                      Other than that Alchemists around Skyrim usually have a few starting recipes you can buy from them. Plus others you may find while exploring,

                      But like the Alchemist girl from Morthal says, you'll just experiment over and over, most times it wont work, and before you notice you'll just run out of ingredients. <_<;

                      Which is the way I like it.

                        I believe spells unlock at vendors as soon as you gain enough relative skill to cast them (i.e. level 25 and 50 respectively in the related magic skill), so you should see Ice Spike, Firebolt, and Lightning Bolt show up once you hit 25 Destruction, and then Fireball, Ice Storm and Chain Lightning plus the related Runes around 50. The last tier of destruction spells have to be quested for I think.

                          The fastest way to level up Alchemy without the Pickpocket Trainer Exploit is:
                          1) Enchant a full suit of armour with +Alchemy Skill Gear
                          2) Mass farm ingredients for a potion you know and just spam those.
                          3) ???
                          4) Profit

                          Crafting in general is ridiculously overpowered in Elder Scrolls though and Skyrim is no exception. Eith the right enchantments you can craft some ludicrously overpowered gear, potions and gear enchants which will always be far better than even Daedric Shrine Gear, loot and quest rewards.

                          I got the explosive runes long before Destruction 50 on my Mage.

                          If you gain entry to the Mage's guild you can buy all the mid-level spells from there. As for the high level spells, IIRC you have to get them from the master trainers.

                          The court mages have their inventory expanded as you level the skill.

                            Nah, if you are going to do that just spare yourself the trouble and use the console to get instant 100 Alchemy skill. (Unless you are playing on a console. In which case /comfort you.)

                            The fun in Alchemy for me is in discovering the recipes and effects myself and getting some perks along the way, which is the complete opposite to skill spamming and guide reading.

                            As for the broken crafted items I usually take advantage of improved defense, but try to hold back or not upgrade weapons at all to make fights last longer. Lest it would trivialize the world and it's dangers for me.

                            PS > Although the one thing I may sometimes cheat on in games is currency. Things like giving myself starting 10000 septims instead of the starting 10 is not something unheard of.

                              Glowing preview for the Japanese version of Skyrim. Their launch is a few weeks away and looks like they might be getting a dubbed version (but maybe also original language version with Japanese sub?) Anyway, seems like many reviewers in Japan are saying this is GOTY.

                                It will be interesting to see if they can capture the spirit of Tamriel or try to force it into Japanese fantasy.

                                It will also be worth seeing if they actually use more voice actors for the Japanese version. <_<;
