I'm going to smack the next person who posts off-topic bronyisms in this thread into next Wednesday. This isn't the Off Topic forum, please try your best to keep such content in the dedicated thread for it if you absolutely must indulge.

      ---

Back on topic: Installed Skyrim for PS3 last night, seems to run pretty well. Much less glitchy than Oblivion in the ~1.5 hours or so I managed to play. Character models are much better, leveling up is a lot more intuitive. A few hiccups for loading in transition scenes, but nothing game-breaking, and area transitions are really fast, which is a pleasant surprise.

Inventory clutter is still the order of the day, and I'm finding Skyrim's inventory system to be harder to manage than the previous titles because of the categorization. Enemy AI is also amazingly stupid on Adept difficulty (default). I may crank the difficulty higher just to see if I can get them to do more than just walk toward me and swing. AI pathfinding is mediocre at best.

Really like the new compass. Showing enemy blips makes combat in groups a much less sketchy affair. REALLY like the fact that regular stats like Strength are all gone now, being abstracted out into Skills and Health/Magicka/Stamina.

        Re: Elder Scrolls SKYRIM

Speaking of Skyrim I cleared the golden claw quest from the gameplay videos last night (today <_<; ). I love the new system with only Magika/Health/Stamina and Perks/skills, it just makes way more sense that way.

I also find myself switching battle modes way more often than in Oblivion, there are just too many good combinations depending on the situation to even try to stick to a single battle style.

A RDM's paradise, I just need to get some enchanted weapons and a RDM armor mod.

Howard said enemy AI (and NPC AI in general) was the only thing that actually relatively limited them in the game. Hopefully they can advance it more by the time Fallout 4 is released.

About this, which I had forgotten about 'til now. I spent almost an hour trying to figure out how to drop things because the designated key (R on the keyboard) didn't do anything for me. So I had to find a container and transfer (using... R...) everything I had over the weight limit.

Also the sound issues when having anything over 48khz in your speaker setup on Windows 7.

Other than that the launch was smoother than I thought it would be.

Is there ever a reason to sample music at more than 48khz though? I'm not an audiophile but human hearing only goes up to 20k. When digitizing an analog signal, you need to sample it at x2 its highest frequency to be able to convert it back to analog perfectly; a 48khz sample rate insures you can play sounds of up to 24khz accurately. Am I missing something here?

From everything I've seen, the game looks gorgeous and a lot of fun. If I could afford to play it, I totally would. Alas.

You accidentally grab some antlers in a store and then dark elf chick running the place puts a bounty on you head for the two cent antlers, even after you set things straight with the guards. I explain I'm the thane and everything's cool.

Her hired help arrived after I helped a nord kill the necromancer messing in his family's tomb we are jumped by her men. My next stop was the greybeards, but when I checked thier contract and saw Acadia hired them, I took a detour back to town and burnt her to death. That's a lot of fire for a dark elf.

The Dread Mother made me do it.

Anyone ever encounter a Wispmother... Here I am, enjoying a pleasant walk when I hear and spot these wisp-spirit things. It's almost magical, really - watching them flutter around in the night sky with a slight buzzing noise.

Next thing I know I see some ugly old hag-of-a-spirit and she attacks me with magic ice spears; then those wisps turn from sweet and innocent into berserker-fury aggression.

Needless to say, killed the wisps in a panic and ran for my life because those spears hurt.

I am so loving this game.

Just fought my first dragon. I got pwned bad, could barely get him to half health (twice) before I was overcooked. XD

Gonna need to train my Archery some more for this one. Good times.

I happen to be training in Destruction, so I downed some Fire Resistance potions, cranked up Healing (counteracting the fire damage) and Frostbite to froze the first dragon to death.

Most dragons are pests that typically die by arrows from guards. The one you've got to watch out for are the ice dragons while you're on rough terrain. With nowhere to land, they'll hover around you, and their breath will drain your stamina which will prevent you from running. Flame Atronachs come in handy with dragon fights, as do most followers.

I hope you guys are having fun.

That dragon is relatively weak since it's the first one, but it didn't appreciate having a noob trying to stick 2 swords on him at the same time.

After that I switched to sniper duty from the top of the tower and killed him fairly easy. Still, I'm going to have a lot of fun trying trying (and probably failing) to DW future dragons to death.

I just love DW for some strange reason, even if it really isn't better compared to sword and shield or spells.

I had an instance on the way to Hrothgar where two dragons spawned and one seemed to fight the other because one didn't land until near death. The other one took off so I killed the one it left and I am no off looking for a shout to gain from the soul.

And to marry Lydia, after I figure out what else I need to do besides have the Amulet of Mara and be a thane to get her to go for it.

I wince every time I hear "Mara." Damn you, Shin Megami Tensei and you chariot-riding phallus demons.

Also, the children of Skyrim are invincible. Adults get mad if try to find this out.
