  • Dragon's Crown is the successor to D&D arcade and Odin Sphere?

    oh mew!

That looks interesting! Hmm lets see the information:

    *flip flip flip*

    Developer(s) Vanillaware
    Publisher(s) Ignition Entertainment

for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita

Dragon's Crown is an action role-playing game structured like a traditional side-scrolling beat-em-up where players move their characters across the screen into the background or foreground attacking enemies. Players may choose between one of six characters--Fighter, Amazon, Elf, Sorceress, Wizard, and Dwarf--who must travel though a number of environments using standard attacks as well as magic spells to defeat enemies

Each character has their own specific strengths and weaknesses such as attack power, movement speed, special attacks, and selection of magic, with the characters' growth throughout the game also being customizable by the player.[3] During gameplay, players may come across items which can be used to aid characters, as well as equipment and weapons which can increase a character's statistics and battle strength. The title features branching paths in every level which are traveled based on the player's decisions during gameplay, such as choosing to steal an item from a boss character, running instead of engaging an enemy, or searching for secrets, which will lead to alternate areas

Quests may also be undertaken by players which hold specific objectives for each dungeon, which all come with their own rewards

When a player's character runs out of lives during online player, another player may gather their bones to trade into special merchant characters who can bring that character back as an AI-controlled partner

The game features an online mode over Sony's PlayStation Network which allows up to four players to experience the game simultaneously

In addition, the PlayStation Vita version uses its touchscreen for item management in place of the PlayStation 3's Dualshock analog stick

The game takes place in a fantasy world where vast labyrinths and catacombs lie beneath civilization. Magic-users seeking a legendary treasure know as the "Dragon's Crown" have used their sorcery to link each of the ruins together in order to search for it, which they plan to use for a sinister purpose. Players must take up the role of one of six adventurers to keep the crown out of their hands, as well as search for treasure of their own

Players may also communicate using an in-game pop-up system which can quickly convey simple messages such as "thank you" to another person

I mean dont get me wrong, I am an admirer of...the...uumm... yeah... but it gets to a point where it is just in bad taste.

They are way to big, and they flopped around so horribly in that video.

For reference this is by Vanillaware, the same team that made Odin's Sphere and Muramasa: The Demon's Blade and with that said, the art style is pretty much par for course. They had foxgirls with massive mammaries in Muramasa, yet protagonist Princess Momohime was kept pretty tasteful.

Some of the male characters look just as ridiculous as the women, yet no one here seems to be batting an eye at their ridiculously massive upper bodies with tiny waists. I'd rather be the skinny female elf ranger than any of the others.

Its a game worth keeping an eye on just due to Vanillaware's involvement. At the very least, they're showing gameplay up front rather than just weeks before release like their publisher has with Senran Kagura.

Muramasa is still pretty easy to find for the Wii and I still regard it as the most gorgeous game to grace a screen this generation. Its not the sharpest brawler in the block, but few are anyway. Its a fun way to pass the time, though.

Just looking at the avatars since Murphie, you posted a Pony Combo Breaker.

But anywho, not surprised of the body proportions. I remember Gwendolyn's dad from Odin Sphere... badass from the top, lolsauce from the bottom.

I still blame Rob Liefield (and for those who don't know who that joker is, Google him ). EDIT: Never mind, let me save you some time (obligatory mildly NSFW warning).

Levity aside, the character designs are pretty typical for Vanillaware - which isn't to say they're normal. But given Vanillaware's preference for style over reality, I can live with it.

Vanillaware knows what they're doing with 2D brawlers, so I have high hopes for this game.

I ended up not buying Muramasa because I have a feeling sooner or later they're going to remaster it in HD and release it on the PS3.

Rob Liefeild is indeed the worst. And while those designs may be par for the course that doesn't mean they aren't awful. So I said so. I don't need to know everything about Vanillaware games to hate the look of the characters.

I like the Sorceress the most. But yeah, the boob job went too far. And considering how the Amazon was already big the Sorceress should've been less inflated to balance things out.

Actually they're both terrible, but no worse than the Fighter or the Dwarf. Both of the latter look like a giant pair of arms glued onto a teeny tiny torso. The only normal looking characters are the ones who actually look good (the Ranger and the Wizard).
