Most people see the initial package they purchased and think, "wtf?" and are probably unlikely to stick around long enough before stuff gets a lot better.
Here's the thing: Ever since Bioware took that development philosophy, the content that came after was generally worse than the base game. Shadow Broker was the best it ever got and that's to say just about average with Mass Effect 2, but all the rest of their DLC has been garbage.

Am I the only one who thinks that it's just the tall characters that look comical? If you go male then if you want to be tall you have to look like something out of WoW on steroids. If you go female and want to be tall then you end up with a character who is ridiculously top heavy (Body Type 3 and 4) or with hips so ridiculously large she looks like something from a 19th century period film (body type 2).

Actually male character in general look like arse in this game. It's why the majority of my characters are females with Body Type 1. That way I can play something that doesn't look like it dropped out of "Star Wars: The Anime" and she will have realistic proportions.

Shame really since I'm a roleplayer and I wanted my Jedi Knight to be male because I had a cool character concept for it. Oh well, at least he's voiced by David Hayter so that's one awesome thing!

You read the quest information on the right side of the screen. Or, use the (mini)map and locate exactly where you need to go. Skipping dialogue that only gives background information on the area doesn't affect your ability to quest efficiently.

You can skil through the dialogue of quests that aren't story important purely because it's going to be "Go here and collect 20 bear asses" with a bonus objective of "Killing 60 bears" or something like that.

FFXI at least gave you an incentive to watch cutscenes because it was the only hint as to WTF you were supposed to do in a quest without tabbing out to check the wiki.

To be honest FFXIV got it right where it's only story quests that are full cutscenes.

Ugh ... I guess I'm a naive optimist in hoping that the developers could redeem themselves with DLC/content patches. Fortunately, not everybody relies on DLC and there's handfuls of marquee titles that don't have any DLC attached to their monicker, but I don't know where this is all going. I don't want to rehash this argument here, though, I'm fully aware that the horse has been flogged to death in another thread several months ago.

As for what Bioware is going to do with SW:TOR, I'm just a bit sympathetic for them. Why? You just know Lucas Studio is the main beneficiary in this and I don't even want to know just what kind of ugly compromises Bioware signed away in making that pact. I don't believe for a second what that lead producer at EA claimed (Something about they just need 300,000 subscribers to be profitable) because every single thing that they do, either in a virtual online store or some weird schemed subscription deal, they need to pay Lucas.

Re: The Old Republic videos and misc info

Oddly enough it was not Lucas Arts putting pressure on Bioware. They even embraced the Old Republic and made it part of the cannon, and if I remember well Lucas said he was supporting BioWare story/concept-wise.

Instead the pressure is coming from (not surprisingly) EA. Ever since they got involved with BW (right at the end of the first Mass Effect's development) you could see just how much BW had to compromise to keep up with it. ME2's radical changes were not a coincidence and everything that came out of BW after ME was not very Bioware-like. It would be like Bethesda making a Japanese style corridor RPG like XIII. It just doesn't make sense unless there's a huge influence from a third party.

But it's all in the past now, I just wont be playing TOR and any other BW games anymore. Sad but I still have Bethesda and Valve (and some Indie companies) to buy western games from.

This game's space combat is such an utter fail. God, am I disappointed.

STO had some amazing space combat, why couldn't they copy that instead of Star Fox?

You can only barrel roll in one direction. The lack of being able to spin clockwise or counter-clockwise at will left me feeling disappointed.

SWTOR bans players for playing the game wrong -Destructoid

Gist of the story is Bioware left an exploit wide open around a level 40 quest and rather than fix it out of concern for the game's economy, they outright banned players for exploiting something they were aware of and could have fixed. This is made worse by Bioware explaining they banned the players over something they still haven't fixed. Nor will they admit the banning were probably a mistake, those players were just doing it wrong.

                        Very classy.

This is what happens when you mix a noob MMOG developer with EA's costumer and PR service of excellence. XD

It's like they were mentored by pre-Abyssea S-E, and then decided to one-up them!

Yeah I was thinking that, except that SE wasn't dumb enough to tell people why they banned them. We could only speculate on the Salvage bans and SE said they addressed the issues, but never said those issues were why the banned happened.

Really though, those bans - while some innocents got mixed in - actually nabbed a lot of the bad in endgame, such as people who bought from RMTs, POS hacked and MPKed on a regular basis. Seems a lot of them had quite a history with GMs, too. So I can't really begrudge SE for finding for finally shitcanning them.

This, however, is just plain shitting on your customers. There really isn't even an endgame yet and people found something Bioware just left wide open. The Salvage exploit had its limits (what with Assault points being spent for Salvage access), this was fairly unlimited and out there for any player of around level 40 to find. It damages the economy, sure, but its Bioware's responsibility to fix this and protect the economy, not ban players for their own fuck-ups.

Woah... I'm a tad speechless about it. I know Square did their own dodgy things, but I never knew any other major studio would stoop to that level. They could have done other things than flat out ban, like either fixing the issue and dealing with the consiquences, or rolling back the characters.

"... and so I close, realizing that perhaps the ending has not yet been written."
