Yes, there's also the REST OF E3. Konami is only a small part of it.

well they are still big news because they are having their own personal event days before E3 starts! it is somewhat related to E3 but at the sametime this specific event is 100% Konami, mew.

If they released a complete game without the "have to buy 10 DLCs to play the other half" I would be interested in it.

But then again, it's not like they would sell me the game anyway, since I'm not from the right region.

None of the other developers are hosting their own conference though.

If all the DLC was packaged together, it would raise the total price. And PSN/XBL mainstream consumers usually aren't keen on spending more than $15 for something, mew.

As separate DLC, people that are not big spenders can pick AND choose what they want from the characters, chapters and music packs,
while saving themselves some money if they aren't interested in all the extras they wouldn't use, so it allows people want more content and willing to pay for more content, can pick and buy what they wanna add to it.

Re: Huge KONAMI event! Exciting reveals and hints!

Konami's conference wasn't exciting last year.

So they're going to "announce" the Peacewalker PSP Remaster (and, sorry, I find the whole PSP Remaster concept stupid, yes, let's strip away what little identity PSP had), MGS 3DS, Castlevnia: Harmony of Downloadable Wank for PS3, Metal Gear Rising and Shadows of the Damned. That and maybe Beyond the Labryinth, which is the only game outside of MGS 3D I really care about

It would only be an interesting conference if Kojima pulled a Mikami/Inafune and left for another developer. Seeing as they just shit-canned a game he worked on for a year in secret (I wager its the rumored Snatcher remake that got the axe), I think its high time. since all they're ever going to let him do is Metal Gear.

He might make a nice fit at Platinum Game. They do some really quirky shit that would he right up his alley.

well wtfbbqkitten is highly opinionated so naturally that which doesn't interest them has no importance to them, mew, so I guess they have every right to insult every project that doesn't grab their interest.

Cannibalizing an existing platform that people could easily buy to give the PS3 more games is one.

Conditioning them to expect ports from handheld games would be another.

Despite my largely negative opinion of Sony, I would like to see NGP succeed. Fueling the perception that everything will just eventually be ported to PS3/PS4 is not a way of helping NGP do that.

See I expect things to eventually get ported to handhelds as that just shows the growth of portable tech. Emphasis on "eventually." MGS3 on 3DS? Well, Nintendo never had that game and PS2 is pretty much a dead platform as it is. New people can experience it. Even moreso for games like Zelda: OOT and Starfox 64.

I mean, its not like they're undercutting the N64 by porting those and giving them visual upgrades. Even the VC versions have had about four years or so to sell.

And its not like PS3 gamers are poor and underprivaliged people that can't afford to experience PSP now. Anyone that drops $60 a week or more on games could have held back on some throwaway titles and gotten a PSP, then used the A/V outs to upscale the games to their TV.

Its just like Sony never wanted PSP to have its own identity. When it floundered out of the gate its "killer apps" got ported to PS2. Then it lived on ports for years. 2009 and 2010 it has a series of great exclusives to call its own - now they're getting ported to PS3.

So yeah, it doesn't exactly bolster my faith in NGP that they're treating PSP like this. I'd like it to be its own thing. DS was its own thing, 3DS will be its own thing, you're not going to see the Super Mario 3DS game or Pokemon Black/White on Project Cafe.

                        .
oh mew, you really aren't considerate of people that aren't interested in spending $100 on more than one platform. Why spend 100+ on a PSP when they could buy about 2 new PS3 games for the same amount? Or spend some of that money for a new controller or stuff on the PSN Store?

I bought PSP mainly for Final Fantasy Type-0, and Duodecim, but these games could have easily been better on PS3, and their multiplayer would have a much bigger community instead of having to deal with that tedious ad-hoc party interface to play with the rest of the world, mew. And the action and cutscenes would look so much better on a big screen!

(and PSP communities are generally non-existant online outside of Monster Hunter and maybe Duodecim.)

PSP is inferior to PS3 in so many ways and the only advantage in its favor is portability and the rare instances of exclusive quality games like Duodecim. (and notice how often I mention Duodecim? PSP really has a bad selection of games almost as bad as Wii:

It's a total waste of money investing on a portable when their PS3 console could be so much better with those PSP games.

$100+ is a lot, even for a platform with inferior screen, sound, controls, hardware, online, memory, etc. And no matter what, PSP and NGP won't have a rich library like PS3.

It's better to expand PS3's library of games instead of expecting people to buy a portable to play 1 or 2 games in such a low class fashion compared to the console luxuries of big screen TVs and sound systems and great controller, easy local multiplayer, expansive online network, and stuff like that.

Also portable systems tend to hurt people's neck and back more often, mew. And if one part of the system is damaged (screen, buttons, etc.) the whole thing has to be replaced!

3DS is already flopping in Japan and it goes to show portables really are a shameful way to make more money from outdated hardware and controls (by console standards) and portability is an overused gimmick, mew.

Portables are always a generation behind consoles.

A company wanting to make profits from a portable alongside their console is like someone running a hotdog stand while they are running a restaurant. The hotdogs are better available in the restaurant instead of separately.
