well Star Ocean MMO might work depending on stuff.

The problem with Star Ocean series is that for the most part, each one concentrated on just one planet. Well ya SO4 involved actual traveling to different parts of space, but for the longest time, the series really didn't live up to its name considering how it narrowed its focus to one particular planet or two.

If it expanded its horizons like Phantasy Star, but with the deep elements from FFXI, a Star Ocean MMO would have much greater potential, mew.

And the last time they sat down to do that was just before the release of WotG and upgrade the windows client to DX9 and they said to themselves 'hell we're doing all this work, why don't we make a new game instead.' Hence change the name of the races, change the parts of the zones they had already recreated around and you got FFXIV.

I hope you don't really believe this. FFXIV has been in development for much longer than WoTG was.

Since they finished CoP to be exact. That just makes it worse though, that they had all that time and it still turned out like crap at launch.

They had plenty of time to fix some (not all) of those decisions between the alpha and launch, though, and they intentionally chose not to do so, ignoring the people who were seasoned MMO players and were telling them honestly what didn't work, and look where it got them?

Granted they couldn't fix everything that was an issue, but instead of saying, "Okay, players, we got your feedback and we realize this needs some work. We're gonna delay the release a little bit and get it right," they basically said, "Meh, what do you fuckers know?" and released it anyway.

If they learn to listen to their players/fans and especially their alpha/beta testers, they will do well. If they don't, they will fail. SE has already posted a huge loss for the past year, they're not doing well. They need to make this next one succeed, or they're going to be in serious trouble. So they need to open up their eyes, listen to their players, and give people something worth playing.

Hmm, that could possibly work, but it'd be kinda weak IMO. I'm willing to bet it won't be an FF title at all though.


My only guess as to why they're doing this is in case it turns out that XIV is completely unsalvagable and has to be scrapped altogether, which would honestly suck after all the progress they've made.

So how's XIV doing anyway? I still think it would be much easier and faster (and convenient for me) to just give up and make FFXI-HD already. So at least some of the work doesn't go to waste.

FFXIV will take time but it is definitely improving and by 4th quarter it will be super better than it is now!
