So there's absolutely no internal quality assurance? That means there's even less incentive for me to give them my business. It is not my responsibility to make sure their stores are in order. It is their responsibility, one at which they are failing miserably.

        I HAVE A SOLUTION!

Just don't shop there. If you hate it that much, just don't.

        God damn.

(And isn't there another thread on this? Do we really need a second one?)

I still call BS, and say you are blowing it out of proportion.

I will admit even my store ever so often might not look 100% You know what though, you go work there and have the rows of games you neatly placed screwed up by kids 5 seconds after you did it, then you have to do it again, for it to only last another minute, and on top of that help the customers, and gut/pickup all the games that are traded in. Then come back to me.

To do that would make sense. I don't give money to stores I don't like, I don't buy games from publishers I don't like. Its actually really, really easy.

There is this particular game store I don't buy from. I have friends that work there. There's two reasons - the owner is an asshole - kind of bad for business for you to talk shit about your customers right behind their back where they'll hear it and then act like you didn't.

Second reason, they have mob debts. Found that out from a former employee. Big guy named Tony would show up every couple of weeks for some reason, he didn't seem to work there, but seemed to have some kind of business with that store's owner that didn't pertain to games. Turns out the owner was in a bit of debt to this guy. Part of it was drugs, too, the owner was a bit of a coke-head.

So yeah, with those facts in mind, I tell people to avoid business there. Being an asshole was enough, but the drug/mob ties thing sort of sealed it.

Nobody asked for an obvious solution. We're here for a discussion.

                Re: Gamestop!

I still shop there, when I have money. The sticker thing annoys me, but it doesn't bother me so much that I feel like raising a huge stink over it. I was pissed when they sold me a broken game - and you really couldn't see the scratch in it that was on the edge - I didn't even notice it until a store which repairs games pointed it out to me. When I called to complain, they said they don't normally accept used games for return, but because of the circumstances they'd give me a full refund.

So I have no major beefs with them. I don't enjoy buying used games and the fact that it generally means that the developer isn't getting jackshit from my purchase, but I also know that trying to get a game for an old system generally means that I have to buy used. I tend to not do it that often. But it did piss me off that one of the few times I did it, I was sold a bum game.

But they don't bother me as much as say, Burger King. Everyone who works at Burger King is an idiot and no matter how many times I say I want a Dr. Pepper with no ice, they always give me ice anyway.

Yeah broken games suck, sometimes we miss the little cracks or what not, and sometimes games just don't work for some odd reason *shrugs* but as long as they are withing the 30day defective warranty and you have the receipt, we dont have a problem taking it back, sometimes we will work with people who don't have the receipt if we remember then from that day.

Yeah I didn't have the receipt, I think that was the problem initially but I was as polite as possible and asked if they could look up the purchase with my debit card. I was kind of upset but trying really hard not to be a total bitch so I think the guy cut me some slack for that reason.

Because I don't guzzle soda. I take my time and enjoy it. So when it sits for a bit and the ice melts, my sodas start to taste like Coke, which is only slightly better tasting than shit itself.

Already stopped giving them my money. Doesn't mean I'm going to shut up when people keep pretending everything's ok when the situation isn't.

Been there, done that, kept the stock neat and alphabetized. Came back to the store months later and saw that it had degenerated since I left because no one picked up the slack. The shelves were a disaster before I arrived at the store too.

So, this suggests to me that you should recognize the problem is not Gamestops but the people who work at them. Your Gamestop was perfectly fine while you were working there, as I assume are BBQ and Kailea's stores when they are working there. The store didn't go to shit because it suddenly became more Gamestop but because a key responsible employee left.

Whether the experience with the handful of stores each person in this thread has patronized or been employed at can be generalized and taken as the norm in the millions of Gamestop outlets across the country is absolutely impossible to determine based on the data given and completely pointless to discuss. You can complain or brag all you want about the tidiness and customer service of your local Gamestop but that is utterly irrelevant to anyone else in this thread or how they should feel about Gamestops in general.

Given this is forum about video games and not stores, I'd like to see game discussions. This is Off Topic or "pet peeve" material, really.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to find some game case to put stickers on and then mail it to Dak.
